The price increase is NOT going to be affecting anyone who has already ordered their car in Ultimate Silver, however it does appear to affect anyone who changes to silver from this point on, but as ollie says, we will have the answers tomorrow!

I presume from the reaction some of you were considering changing your colours?
Thank's for clarifying that

Here is my order:

Version: Black Edition Sat Nav + Bluetooth
Exterior Colour: Ultimate Silver
Interior Colour: Black Leather
Delivery date: 12/2009

Dave

cant help thinking this is a kick in the teeth for those of you with existing orders who had been mulling over a switch silver. am sure it was previously communicated that preorder vips could switch colour combos up to date of confirming order. but to now whack an extra 1400 on those of you wanting to really stinks!! - why not give all preorder vips a period of grace to make the switch for free????? oh dear, another potential PR disaster looms

Is anyone else thinking of applying to Nissan GB for the job of managing their website? - the configurator specifies the additional charge for ultimate silver where as the specification section still says it's a no charge option!

As someone has said before, looks like another PR issue in the making.....

Thanks to everyone out there for the info that's helped me keep my sanity during these times of less than perfect customer communications.

Yes, I was considering changing. I will see if they will let me. If I'm charged, I will cancel. Simple as...

Ho Ho - I have a smug look!

I was aware in March that the USA website showed this as a $3000 option and I was very surprised to see it as a normal colour here. I also discussed this with a couple of dealers who told me that Nissan (Japan) had only just realised that Nissan (Europe) were not charging for it and had hit the roof!!

However, the view then was that new orders would be charged from a date tbc but existing orders would be given a period of notice when they could change without cost.

As I have seen some photos of the colour, it is fabulous and I would expect some changes to orders once the track days are done when all the colour choices will be there to see - I cannot see how they can charge pre-orders when we were told that you can change spec (exc Satnav) up to 4 months before build!

I smell some advancement in delivery times as a few more bail out out of principal!

I just need to decide whether to go for Black Edition or stay with premium...

Guess i'm sitting pleased too, assuming they dont backdate this charge. However, as a matter of principle i dont think it is fair to also charge our friends on here who had pre-orders and who may have thought of switching to silver - if they are charged for switching then yet again the goalposts are being moved which would stink of bad management and handling yet again of the whole ordering process - the saga continues as they say.................

Its good if anyone has a silver on order, as the car is now effectively worth £1400 more, which will also help with residuals etc.
Anyway, had a word with a solicitor friend today about these back charging/charging issues and it all depends on terms and conditions people have signed & agreed to. A lot of car manufacturers have 'can change further specification and pricing without notice' subclauses, so hopefully nothing more will change before 09.....
Been told by the dealer that if you already have ordered silver, you do NOT get backdated charge.

Spoken to JFE - Official policy is that pre orders for Ultimate Silver will not be charged the £1400premium. However, changes from another colour to this will be and that is unlikely to be reversed.

I have changed mine to silver but i have still to find out if there is a charge.
Its a bit unfair that 2 different people ordering the same car
have to pay different prices.
Surely they can take a hit on all the pre-orders to keep all customers happy
Its 20k more expensive here than in the states.
Will wait and see what they say.
I will pay it if they can give me an 09 car instead of a 2010 .

Just a few days ago
when the rumour about the charge started
I knew i wouldnt end up going for a black car
i was going to wait till after silverstone once i had seen all the colours
but i reckoned if i changed it to silver now then if i did decide against
i wouldnt be charged for it
