Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

So went to see this last night;

It was not what i was expecting, i mean, it was fun to watch, but they pushed it way too far. I know its all meant to be fantasy type of deal but well the old ones when i watch them, i can think about it and be all like, "Yeah that maybe could happen" with some of his antics, but i dunno, this one just left me feeling like i did when i watched the Transporter 2 when he flips the car upside down and knocks the bomb from under it...kinda like "mmm...no"

I kind of felt a little let down, but it was still fun to see.

I totally agree with you Rain, was fun, but very suspect in a lot of places. George Lucas has a lot to answer for with his screen writing!

Just got back from seeing it tonight, all my mates and me thought the same, some bits you just think, hmm, as if. also the ending was not what i expected... Still quite a good film though, Iron man has beaten it though i think.

For sure Iron man was great, i really enjoyed the over all film a few little things here and there but over all it was damn fun to watch, better than Transformers for me.

I think what killed it with Indiana Jones was that feeling they were trying to give you about being back in time, but then shoving all this nut ball CG on the screen, Now i love CG, its what i do, but even I know when you should and should not over do it, if you are going for nostalgia, keep it nostalgic.

But yeah I enjoyed the film, lol i really hope they dont pull a Starwars and say "wow well that went well, lets go back and total crap on the old ones also and re-release them as being BETTER" lol South Park style.

Either way, if you dont own the originals, go out and buy a set lol just in case they decide to get greedy!

true that, CG in some films can look awsome, transformers was one of them, Unless a film needs it, the less its used the better i think, makes it seem more believable.
like you said about starwars, lucas ruined it with the newer version of the new hope, and the bad newer ones with jaja binks annoying bugger. Still think the original version is amazing, done before CG was invented.

Have not seen Indiana Jones as yet, but do plan to.
Think most films look worse if CG has been used.

I agree. I was really let down with this movie. You can tell Lucas and ILM had a much bigger say about all the ridiculous special effects than before.

I really fealt like I had been pandered to at the end of the movie.

I saw this yesterday and on the plus side it was a fast paced film, it didnt seem like it was 2 hrs long. However daft bits
surviving the nuclear blast
his lad swinging through the trees ( i didn`t go to see tarzan)
and the ending

Suspension of disbelief can only be relied upon for so long. Two out of five stars from me.

George Lucas shouldn't be allowed near a film ever again IMO.

Sorry disagree with you all after seeing that & IRON MAN yesterday.

All the previous films had the element of disbelief which you seem to forget, but that's Mr Lucas for you. At least the fridge was lead lined which it showed you though the tumble it went through was obviously the hard to believe bit. Plus yes all the radioactive dust he would have breathed afterwards watching the mushroom cloud - so what - he was scrubbed down & did drink from the grail in the last film if your minds can't stretch that far!

Superb film, best of the lot for me & hugely entertaining which is what it should be.

IRON MAN was probably the best MARVEL film to date but nowhere near the quality of Transformers - sorry.

Would still be nice if MARVEL didn't bother with the how it came about stories & just got on with an action film instead with the hero. Lets see how the new HULK film does as we've had the crap how the hulk became film ...

Read in the paper last night that even if it got mixed review, the movie cost $95million to make & they already got $150million so far in worldwide revenue.

Even if a lot of people do not like it, looks like everybody's going to watch it

Well for sure, i wasnt going to miss it.

SM: I agree that the older ones had that type of antics, but i dunno, the new one is just a bit throw together feeling. I liked it dont get me wrong, ill buy the DVD, but it cant really compare to the older ones, they just seem more authentic..i dunno its hard to explain

Sorry, can't agree there: the first one was the best, simply because it had that magic "newness" to it that can't ever be recaptured.

Oh wait, no, sorry, the third one was best! Remember the scene in Venice, with those wonderful old mahogany speed boats? Well, my step-father used to own the one that went between the two ships (and exploded). We sold it to the film company a year or so before they started filming - we had a "gentleman's" agreement that they would sell it back to us after filming (which they didn't keep).

I have very happy memories of hurtling round Torbay in that speedboat (which was a 1930's Chris Craft Runabout).

They built a replica to explode.
