Important Notice!

Guys & Gals, I don't know if Kazama will let people ride with shorts / skirts and short sleeved tops - so please bring long clothes to cover your arms and legs. Anybody with spare helmets bring those too, as head sizes can differ for all.

I'm bringing a couple of helmets & some long clothes that people can borrow anyways.

I'm getting into the car now and will be in Nikko as quick as I can, so we can get some decent space under the roof for hammocks!

Great day! Awesome food and sideways action. Nice to meet up with everyone. Miguel, you made my son's year! He really enjoyed going out there with you drifting, thank you. Andy, what can I say? Plenty of smoke and sideways action. I can still smell the rubber that was pouring into the car, or is it all the bbq smoke? Thanks to all for pitching in and organising such a fantastic day out, weather was great. We managed to make it home a little less than 2 hours, not bad really for that big van. Can't wait till the 5th now, my turn to drive!

What a great day! Thanks from me and Mitsuko for all the fun rides (Andy...I know why Nikko is your favorite track now!) and to Paul and the family for providing us with what seemed like a never ending feast! Meat & smoke overdose!!

A few pics of Miguel taking my son out for a spin, again big thanks. I tried getting some real good shots of the front right tire coming off the ground but there was always a car that would pass right in front of me at that very moment; there is always next time. So here are just a few.

My camera is only small, so excuse the poor pics.

I'll post Andy's vid later.

Dai san en route

When I got to the top of Iro Hazakka. Andy had just been there.
I couldn't see a thing!!

It was a bit wet also, I held off for as long as possible, but the top had to go up.

Hey Paul & G thanks sooooo much for your efforts yesterday. You turned up with everything we needed for a great BBQ, right down to chairs and table. Awesome!!! Glad the old BBQ was still there, eh! - We stashed it in some other bushes, so assuming it won't rust away we'll keep it for another time. Food was delicious! You'll be pleased to hear after you left pretty much everything was spoken for, only the bottle of relish found no home, lol.

Andy, hadn't watched you in ages - your drifting's improved even more - Very quick and you're sideways everywhere! Looking forward to seeing more if you do decide to compete professionally mate! BTW, I don't think I saw any other cars create tyre fog better than your's yesterday. Shame you lost 3rd gear at the end, but hey - that's motorsport and your car evidently makes huge much power you're an absolute animal on the track!

Allen, was impressive to see you do so well bearing in mind this was only your 3rd drift event so far. Your car seems well sorted now. Hopefully we'll see you at more events in future. Next Drift Matsuri's in November I hear (August one will be too hot and too many mozzies, so I don't think we'll be there for that...)

Dai Chan, your drifting was also consistently tidy with some impressively early entries. Good to see your car going so well, I know how much work it's been for you to do the complete installation yourself, right down to mapping it the (sleepless) night before yesterday's event!

Sorry, I didn't get to see others who were with us out on track, too busy eating huge prawns and veggie burgers, getting tyres changed, etc. but everyone had fun!

Russ, thanks for the pics -Sorry I forgot to tell you I'd brought my camera (on the shelf in the pit area). I saw you shooting sometimes so I'd assumed you'd found it, but later I heard you'd used DCD's camera. If so looking forward to seeing those pics. Would be good to see just how high off the ground my driver side wheel was getting on that penultimate corner before the pit straight

Daniel, amazing that you made it buddy, having arrived to Narita only a few hours before!!

Good to take people on rides, glad to hear Nathan enjoyed it too

My '86 recently came back from having a synchro refresh, as when I changed up too fast it would always crunch from 2nd to 3rd and on the downchange woudl sometimes be reluctant to engage 2nd. It's smooth as butter now. Clutch also new and stood up to plenty of abuse - no problem. Was pleasantly suprised I never saw more than 110 Deg C oil temp, meaning I never needed to do any cool down laps..

I'd pretty much forgotten the track as we hadn't been to Nikko a long time but that's the fun of it... By the 3rd session I felt comfortable again and was entering the corner at the end of the pit straight earlier and harder in 3rd. On last session with Daniel, we overtook another car on that corner whilst sideways, which was kinda fun if not a little cheeky

I guess I'll leave it for Daniel to post his pics later... He's still sleeping off the jetlag right now..

Where are all the other photos?

It was great to be out there. I am glad that my baby girl was fine to ride all the way up there in my Loud, Oil stinking AE86!
Being setup in the back with the baby seat next to the diff and the pillowball joints low control arms would not have been fun!

Miguel, I didn't see you much on the track. Your were always going too fast and passing everyone.

Dai-chan was killing it! He's improved so much with those early smoking entries and chokidori down the straight. He's good with his car and setup.

I gotta fix my diffs backlash.

Tomo will be drifting at Fuji tomorrow.

Oh Yeah.

I forgot your camera Miguel. I took a couple of snaps with mine then ended up using it for some vids.

I have plenty of spin action... maybe later.

I got some better shots of Dai and Miguel with Dino's Camera though when he was out with Kazama.

Also forgot to break out my Raji Dori RC car too. It was in the back of the car.

Too much other stuff happening. A good day in all.

maybe next Daikoku adventure.

Russ.
