Glyn Hopkin to now be considered for HPC status
Like some others, I ordered through Glyn Hopkin last year and paid my deposit of £1k. Luckily for me I happened to speak to marshalls in Cambridge just before my call to Glyn Hopkin and they kept note of my interest. When the list of HPCs came out (without Glyn Hopkin) I rang Marshalls to find out where I would be on their list to be told I already was and was at no 11, so much relief. I promptly cancelled my order with Glyn Hopkin and have had my deposit refunded.
Today, received letter from Nissan UK thanking me for ordering my Nissan GTR through Glyn Hopkins. It reads: 'Our records show that you have placed your GTR pre-order with one of the Glyn Hopkin Ltd Nissan dealerships. Currently Glyn Hopkin are not accredited as a Nissan HPC, however this situation is under continual review with a final decision regarding their GTR representation expected in October 2008. As such your GTR pre-order has been accepted and processed centrally by Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd. We can categorically assure you that it has received equal status and priority as all other customer pre-orders recieved to date in the UK.' Again, another Nissan admin ****-up. I did hear that Nissan were considering a total of 12 or 13 HPCs. The service from Marshalls blows Glyn Hopkins out of the water anyway |

So, what happened to your order with Marshalls? Do you actually have two orders now?

Dont think so. Cancelled my Glyn Hopkin order (or so I thought), got a refund and now in my view have official order with Marshalls. My website login and dealer info is all with Marshalls. Oh, and they have my £3,500!.
Doesnt really matter as I wouldnt go with Glyn Hopkin now anyway. Besides, Marshalls is only 25miles away as well!. Told I'm being told delivery date in the next 10 days - all a bit confusing. Also given the option to transfer pre-order to an alternative HPC, so might wait and see if i'm offered an April slot!!! (not holding out much hope) |

I'd bet money that you've got two cars then.
Now consider this: it's unlikely that you would be the only person that Nissan would send such a letter to. That means that there are probably people out there that genuinely only have a deposit with Nissan dealers that are not NHPCs. These people are so disinterested in the car that they didn't even bother to find out about its launch, the ordering process, the dealers, etc. These people have been told "we can categorically assure you that (your order) has received equal status and priority as all other customer pre-orders recieved to date in the UK". Some (all) of us paid the right amount of money, to the right people at the right time and we could behind them in the lottery. That's just great, isn't it? If anybody knows any concrete examples of this then let me know please. Ta.

I was in my local Glyn Hopkins today getting the 350z serviced and tested before it goes to a new home and spoke to their sales guy about whether they were selling the GTR and he said "we thought about it but decided not to go for it as it was too much hassle to get the performance centre status" - couldnt get it more like based on my past experiences with them!!
He may not have been fully informed as I believe Glyn Hopkins dealt with GTR deposits through their Romford HQ. Originally I had heard that non HPC dealers could order the GTR from the 4th April as could anyone on-line direct with Nissan (as opposed to the 2nd for HPC's) thereby meaning that all HPC orders would be first out of the hat followed by a new hat for non HPC orders. But yes the only way to confirm this is for someone to come forward with a confirmation of an order not placed through an HPC!?! Perhaps the letter received is notification that you will receive a date soon from a second round of orders? this is speculation but kind of makes sense to me. |

Olliemeff, id be interested to know the 'hoops' you jumped through to get the status. To my understanding NISSAN nominated the 10 Dealerships and in turn they responded positively, (understandably). I know that a lot of equipment will have to be installed to your workshops 100K or something? and so that is fair enough but what were the hoops???

Also as you pointed out the money involved with equipment is extensive, as is the training for the technicians, and eventually the Sales Specialists. I imagine that if you guys want to know something, you'd expect your HPC to know the answer to every question. At the minute it's a massive learning curve everyday, and this forum helps massively, but Nissan has some proposed intensive training for us so we can deal with all the information we need. |

Fair enough, my understanding of the process was that the GTR people came to the dealerships that they expected to be HPC's, had a look around and made sure that they were up to scratch, then appointed them.. None of the dealerships have obtained their 'specialised' equipment or had any talk about their technicians being trained so there is a long way to go.

oh well - at least you can say you're doing your bit for the envinronment, and who knows, you might even ride out this ridiculous oil price fiasco - wouldnt bet against it being back below $100 this time next year, and all these fuel protests a thing of the past............... - now that's optimism!!
