I have an innovate kit , i'm not impressed it reckons my AFR's are a lot richer than i think they are eg 9/1 on full boost and 12/1 on light throttle i just dont belive the car would run as well if that were true.

Have a look at the innovate technical forum as well , loads and loads of unhappy customers

I'm thinking about fitting the VEMS afr/egt kit instead

My personal opinion is that the Innovate LC-1/LM-1 are superior to any other consumer-grade (~$300 price point) wideband o2 controller on the market. I'm not talking about a fancy NTK or Horiba meter, but compared to the AEM, PLX, Zeitronix, etc.

There is nothing more difficult about the LC-1 than any other wideband. I will never purchase a consumer-grade wideband other than an Innovate product.

Good, solid, factual information. I have an LM-1 and it works great. If Bosch supports Innovate's methodology, I am not one to argue.
Wideband o2 questions - FreshAlloy.com Forums since I can't edit the post to copy across the quoted links. There is a lot of good information on that link. There are a lot of people who are smarter than me that also recommend only the Innovate units.

99% of the people on the Innovate forum that have issues like you simply do not have their gauge setup correcty. Attach a laptop computer, open logworks, and look at your AFR. If it matches what your gauge says than, that is your AFR. If it doesn't then you need to configure your outputs to match what your gauge is expecting. The 0-5v curve is easy, easy, easy to set up.

I have a PLX R-500 which is a good bit of kit, but for a basic Lambda controller and gauge for permanent install I'd go for Innovate LC-1.

Found this on the Zeitronix site.

AFR meter shootout

I use a Zeitronix Zt-2, and am very happy with it. Matched MOT machine very closely.

I noticed that that AFR meter shootout does not include their test results just comments, and being an Import Tuner article has plenty of inaccuracies and blatantly incorrect statements (a few just in the first paragraph!)

Here's a better more technical review.

Wideband O2 Sensor Shootout! | FordMuscle Magazine

Innovate was granted permission to reprint the article in full (you have to be a paid subscriber to see the entire article on Ford Muscle.com

Would highly recommend reading it for you Zeitronix/AEM/PLX fans out there.

Tried what you said and connected the lc-1 to my laptop and logworks matched the data from the gauge

I still dont believe what logworks and the gauge is telling me 11.5 on tickover and drops into the low 9 range on boost , it should be fouling the plugs and covering the road with black smoke at that ratio but it isnt , the car is running really well but is certainly a little rich

Have you removed the sensor from the exhaust stream, and done a free-air calibration? This needs to be done periodically. easy to do, there are instructions with your controller.

If that doesn't change anything, replace the sensor. It's a $60USDpart and you can get it at any Volkswagen or Audi dealer (or from an Innovate dealer). If you still don't believe the numbers head to a dyno and hook up to a tailpipe sniffer and your wideband at the same time to verify.

done plenty of free air calibrations but my next step will be to confirm the data with another wideband fitted to the car .

shouldnt have to replace the sensor already the car has only done about 400miles since i fitted the innovate kit

I guess my question is are you doing the calibration correctly? If you do it incorrectly then you can run into the exact problem you have - way incorrect readings.
