What? and delete your screams?

Here is a crappy YouTube upload - if anyone knows how to improve the video quality - please PM me.

YouTube - Sports Land Yamanashi - with Sunako-san

Also - our friend Tom has video of him driving his yellow car, following Dai-chan (delivering tofu), getting passed by Sunako driving my car (at the 8min mark), then coming up behind Miguel (at the 9 min mark).

Tweety - TCR2000: SLY Video 08/07/05

Everyone, thanks for your kind comments. Miguel, Russ, Nick, Paul, James - good to know that it was a worthwhile experience - I hope we all learn and improve our skills. Miguel, I think you are mistaking my bravado at the first corner (copying Sunako) for actual driving skills, but thanks anyway.

Looking forward to more photos or even a new post, as Paul hinted at!

See you guys on Wed!

Aki

PS - for those you who can read Japanese - check out Sunako's bulletin board - his staff put up that one picture of us already -

From Sunako's website

good thing we can't make out our faces... hopefully if this is submitted to GT-R magazine they keep the faces blurry!

Gomennasai, I got home late today as well and moving to a different location in the Tokyo area tomorrow, so again had no real time to do anything with pictures.. so here's another picture that looked like a keeper

Paul: no worries, we chatted quite a bit in my opinion ps: thank you for the TV mode explanation, it was fun experimenting with that mode and I hope that you get to enjoy the results.

Miguel: Thank you, I would be definitely interested in that .

John - unfortunately I was too busy running around to take any photos. Perhaps some of the other members will have some photos. But will be happy to do an article, though. Give me a few days.

Again an awesome day.

I am still processing the things I experienced from this as I watch the videos.

It's good to see the different reactions.

The difference in Toms roadster and mine with no tyre traction is vast.
I had wheel spin 80% of the time in first but Tom's seems to get much more traction. Even though Sunako hept mine going forward, it was a vastly different audible experience. The scream of tyre and rev limiter.

Some nice pics Paul. Pity we were in the same group I don't have any pics of your 34.

Russ.

In other words, BACK by POPULAR demand. Yeah, Sunako mentioned this too at the end of the debrief at the end of the day. I was in a state of disbelief, Sunako had been going around telling that this was going to be his absolute LAST class, and that he wasn't going to do this anymore.

I think he (Sunako) was not thinking it was going to go this well. Thanks to everyone, I heard from the staff that they were really happy with how it turned out, that everyone was mature, respectful and great guys, and that the staff felt bad because they didn't have enough people on hand to help out!

So it's a credit to everyone who participated - thanks guys! And Piers, is this your way of trying to get me to set up another track day with him later in the year? One you might attend?

Hey guys, this is a VERY interesting video which Tom has kindly pointed us in the direction of. You can really see how this 996 driver at Fuji (Looks like a full race car with sequential box, etc) used trial braking and most importantly how gently he lets off the brakes as he reaches the clipping point he's able to gently apply throttle and start accelerating out again. I've been watching this clip over and over again at how the braking varies according to steering input....
I think this sort of trial braking is what Sunako San was really trying to teach us the importance of at Yamanashi.

In other words hard braking, finish the gearchanges just before the corner, stay on the brakes gradually easing off whilst applying steering lock and easing off more as the car slows down and reaches the clipping point. That graph he drew for us of braking force against steering angle was also important I think.. Once past the clipping point start accelerating out again..

Also, this 2 lap video clip loosely shows the braking points and correct race lines around Fuji circuit.

Seeing this video clip makes me want to go out and practice, practice, practice

That's an awesome video, although it's hard to concentrate on the footwork and not get lost in the glorious noise of that engine !
