hi mate.
i have a 13 row trust cooler and i will be looking at around 1litre more. my advice (given to me by guy@opie oils) is: do the 4 litre that the engine normally uses, and then do another half liter. start the engine for a few seconds to let the oil circulate and then turn it off and check quantity. then top up. it should take around half a litre more. it also depends on how much rows you have and also the size of the braided lines and also if you have a relocation kit. hope it helps mate |

I recommend topping the oil cooler itself up with oil aswell before starting the car for the first time, so that it doesn't run out off oil in the head...
I do the same when changing the oil filter aswell, get some oil in the filter and then fit it to the car. The less air volume in your oil passages, the better I would say ![]() |

I have the 10 row fender mount kit with thermostat, and the Trust sump extension. I'm in the US, so bare with my use of US measurements...
Sump extension~1qt Oil cooler + lines~1-1.5qt I figure 2-2.5 quarts increased capacity, then maybe some top off. I like the idea of pre-filling the cooler, but it mounts w/the ports to the side...I forsee a mess. I'll have to figure a way to pre-fill the system. Thanks guys! My Trust cooler seems to require another 1.5 liters, including the long -10AN hose runs. I'm planning to have mine moved to the drivers side to shorten the hose runs.
Every time I get an oil change, draining the cooler is a bit of a headache; you've got to get to the cooler itself and detach the lines. But I'd been thinking, Earls makes line testers - basically a plug that screws onto your AN hose they come in all sizes) and a Schrader valve. They're meant for leak testing, but I also suspect that blowing air in to push the oil out might help drain the cooler? Maybe? |
