I'm in a not dissimilar postion, but for different reasons. It's not the running costs as I'm fairly used to that via other cars, but I'm having doubts about a few things. I'm 6'4" and couldn't get comfortable when I sat in the GTR, and there was literally zero room behind, effectively making it a 2 seater when I drive it. Now if it becomes a 2 seater in that scenario then I'd rather have a "proper" lighter 2 seater and hence keep my Noble, otherwise I've bought a big 2 seater coupe. The other nagging doubt has always been the auto box, although the upside of that is that if it were a manual I would probaly be too cramped to use the clutch. Over the years Ive ordered several TVRs without ever driving them ( Griff,Cerb,Tuscan)but I always knew A:I'd fit ('cos Peter Wheelet is 6'7"!) and B: the type of driving experience it would be. The " keep it for 6 months depreciation free" scenario is not an option ,might have been if the original 2009 quota was kept to, but not now and with a tottering economy as well I can only see prices going one way, but in any case it wasn't the reason I placed my deposit. If only we had a chance of driving one before we confirm the order!

Has anyone else 6ft4 or taller sat in a gtr yet?!
Firstly, do you fit in it comfortably? Secondly, Does the seat have to be all the way back, or... Thirdly is there still room in the back for child passengers?! Answers to these questions decide if my wife kills me or not ![]() |

I could probably fiddle enough to get comfortable eventually, but there is no room at all behind me, making it a big 2 seater, which is simply not me. Id rather stick with lightweight 2 seater or ( much less likely)go the whole hog and get a quick saloon like a s'charged VXR8 etc. Oh to get to sit in one again in the next few days.

I am only 5'11" and can't ever seem to get the right position in my Evo either, so good to know there is a bit more room to play with. ![]()

I wonder if there arn't a few people like Toys, People who have been carried away and put an order in but when reality bites think that £55K buys a lot of car. Is the cache of owning what is probably the best car around at the moment worth more then driving say the ultimate 34?
Tricky one but thankfully one I don't have to answer because I don't have the cash. I'l wait for hand me downs in 5 - 7 years time as I have with other Skylines. |

Come winter all I want is a cheap old banger I can use for work and not worry about chucking a few tools in. But the main problem is you will be tied to expensive dealer servicing and if you have to sell it will be only them who can offer a cash settlement. I had this with a Merc non of the independent sites had cars that were expensive enough to trade down to, so I had to take a big hit returning the car to the dealer, and that was a cash sale without credit charges to consider. The only live once works for me when booking expensive holidays, but with cars the honeymoon period is over too soon. As with the R34 GTRs when people on the forums want to buy a car they look for one that has never being near a track, full dealer history and money spent on loads of extras. So my advice buy a old R32 GTR with a blown engine, drop a new N1 engine in it and enjoy. |
