COBB Tuning AccessPORT

How sounds this?:

COBB Tuning AccessPORT Update

Quote:
The COBB Tuning AccessPORT for Nissan GT-R device is designed to allow workshops and end users to plug into and modify settings in their GT-R’s ECU. Settings such as fuel, timing and ignition maps, speed and rev limits and so forth.
.....
A speed delimiter tune which just removes the 180km/h speed limit on JDM GT-Rs, Stage-1 tune for standard or cars with a cat-back exhaust system and Stage-2 for cars with removed or hi-flow cats.

Which light are you referring too? There is a "bonnet light" that comes on some times when you reflash an ECU or place a battery charger on the car. (by the way Alf, I've taken care of that and I'll get you a firmware update for you AccessPORT )

The "Bonnet light" is the light that looks like the bonnet is opening backwards. The light is the light for the Bonnet air bag.

As far as the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) I've never seen the light come on in our GT-R.

I have seen the TPMS error on 1 car in Singapore. The light came on after the guys at the tyre shop deflated the tyres completely and then re-inflated them with nitrogen again.

can this change the boost level too? i can see some people totally screwing up their GT-R with this tool... a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing...

personally i think this is really cool. not confident enough myself to use something like this though. guess it saves you having to buy an ecu. how much does it cost and how much are the stage tunes?

2) amuse's high boost line ecu works with hks' evc. must the evc be uninstalled before the ap can be used or can the ap override the evc ?

3) have you produced any maps for high flow exos e.g. hks kansai's ? presuming i have a completely straight through exos setup (test pipes, race mufflers etc), would you have a suitable map when you launch the ap ?

thanks

Nice!!! Exactly what I need! Seems like similar devices from them cost about US$695, so I expect this one to be the same!

I have used the AccessPORT to remove the bonnet light that was showing up on our car. I'll get a firmware update out to Alf and he'll be able to verify that it will.

Here we go:

Q: Can this change the boost level too?
A: The different stage maps will have different boost level targets. Trey and our tuners will spend a lot of time targeting the max boost level that optimal and safe for the different stages. The AccessPORT does not allow the user to adjust the boost level.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Because this is an international product that will support all R35 GT-R's we have not set a price yet.

Q: And how much are the stage tunes?
A:We do not charge a different price for our different stages. The AccessPORT will come with the following maps:
Stock Style
Stage1
Stage2
Valet Mode
Anti Theft
And all maps are available on-line for free download. With this being an international AccessPORT we will be working on different octane maps for the different regions. When these maps are completed you will be able to download them and install them on your GT-R via the AccessPORT.

Q:1)presuming my ecu has been reflashed by say amuse, would i be able to save the amuse map into the ap and reflash my ecu with a cobb map ?

A: As part of the installation you are given the option to download your stock ROM. That way when you uninstall the AccessPORT it puts back on the ECU exactly what came off. The only problem would be if Amuse lock the ROM or made modifications to it that I don't know about, in that case the AccessPORT would give you an Error when it tried to download the ROM.

Q:2) amuse's high boost line ecu works with hks' evc. must the evc be uninstalled before the ap can be used or can the ap override the evc ?

A:Yes HKS's EVC would need to be removed. The ECU its self has a very nice closed loop boost control in it and we use that. We use all the factory sensors and controls to turn the boost up, we have found that it just works better that way. The factory systems are really good and we use them to the fullest. As far as overriding the EVC, I don't know. I would have to get one here and try it on our car.

Q:3) have you produced any maps for high flow exos e.g. hks kansai's ? presuming i have a completely straight through exos setup (test pipes, race mufflers etc), would you have a suitable map when you launch the ap ?

A: No not yet, but that does not mean that we won't. The way we make our maps is we put the parts on our car or someone else's car and we tune for that exact setup. It takes a bit longer but we can make sure the tunes are well done and add the maxim power possible.
