Any luck???

the way i understand it it you need to activate the VSS signal ( on off switch) the you need something to interrupt the vss signal to the computer. It almost sounds like we are going to need 2 switches????

I think i may just try to do some kind of speed sensor.

Why not use the HKS mixture switch?

Yeah, it's designed work with the Fcon and allows you to maunally dial in rpm incriments for the two step via a knob on the box, once it has been enabled within the Fcon unit. Once moving the speed sensor knocks the two step off. Simple yet reliable. I think the unit is around £120 from HKS dealers.

Well that’s my problem; I don’t have a speed sensor. This is an old school z drag car. And in reality the fcon is supposed to handle all that on its own…. This knob you’re talking about sounds like it give you adjustment ability.

You can rig up a potentiometre or a g sensor. I know Paul at Engine Advantages does it like that, might be worth giving him a bell.

Thanks never thought about that.

We found a 3 way switch online that i Sould be able to wire my transbrake AND 2 step thru. If you can that will be perfect.

Will let you guys know how it goes.

Hi stony,
We tried lots of ways to build boost quickly on the transbrake, ignition retard, rev limiters etc and it basicly doesn't work with an auto, well not in our car anyway.

Once we got a decent converter and a small shot of nos on the transbrake, we could build boost in a reasonably quick amount of time and as long as the starter wasn't too trigger happy we could get plenty of power in time for launch.

On a Pro tree it was touch and go if the starter was quick but on a sportsman tree it was fine.

Best of luck with the way you decide to do it.

Rob

Yea I figure I will have to do something like that eventually but I will be happy with even a little boost as long as it maintains it and doesn’t bog.

2 Step

Hi,

Your problem is simple to solve as long as you know what you are doing

You need to install a microswitch on the clutch pedal arm. When you have the clutch depressed the two step is active, when you lift the clutch the microswitch is switched and the 2 step limiter is removed. This can be done within the F Con software and the F Cons aux outputs. This means you do not need a speed sensor and alo enables you to dial in when the 2 step is released on launch as you can vary the point the microswitch operates in relation to the pedal travel points. It also means you dont need to switch the 2 step on or off when you want to use it, its automatically engaged every time you have the clutch depressed. In addition to this you need the HKS mixture switch which enables you to vary the RPM at which the 2 step operates so you can alter it depending on the track conditions and launch rpm required to achieve the optimum traction, again the parameters of which are controlled within F Con.

You cant do this yourself if you dont have the Fcon software or someone that knows how to use it properly.

Cheers

Andy

Andy I thought his car was an Auto, still easy to sort out , when turn the 2 step off on John,s car using a micro switch on the handbrake set up.

Again we use a HKS mixture switch to adjust the launch RPM and with a little work you can also alter the 2 step launch ignition retard with a HKS mixture controller.
