Unhappy Problems ? Single Plate Clutch on 500bhp+

Hi all,

Looking at clutches for my R33 GTR and the trouble is I will be driving through towns. Looking around the forum people are saying that twin plates are terrible/ on or off / stalling! . Could anyone please advise.

Cheers, james

Just had a carbonetic twin fitted; apart from slightly stiffer pedal and some noise when pressed down, it's really easy to use.

Can't comment on much more as I'm still taking it easy to bed it in.

I tried to keep my single but on the first dyno run after having it tuned a bit more it let go...I now have a HKS twin and it is not all that good for driving in traffic..It is not bad enough to stall it is just not very nice in stop start traffic..Alot of people rate the nismo super coppermix twin plate so that might be one to choose..Whatever twin you choose be prepared to be royally rogered on the price..

I have the OS Giken twin, it definitely removed some of the pleasure from stop and go driving (not like it's fun anyway), but it doesn't stall.

if you need a twin plate clutch for your 500 hp nissan skyline it aint a daily driver no more.

not only that, it is the stopping and starting in traffic that f*cks them, not the fact its only a single plate clutch.

3rdly you want the clutch to be the weakest link in any drive line, rather replace a clutch then a gearbox, and it WILL be third gear not the newly installed twinplate clutch

Yes yes it will. Im pulling my box out for this exact reason

Bank on topic.... Nismo twin plate coppermix with the Nismo slave cylinder... BRILLIANT! Feels a little heasvier then stock and a little bit more grippy but nothing to write home about. VERY Highly recommended
