oil pressure strange problem
hello guys.
while bedding the new brakes last night, in the middle of the run, my oil pressure gauge (hks one) started to show 0bar and warning light on (obviously). the stock oil pressure on the cluster always seemed fine showing just below the 4 mark on idle. there is no oil leak as the level sits good where it was before and also there is no oil puddle on the floor. the pressure was reading 0 on the gauge and sometimes when i braked or accelerated (and sometimes even when doing nothing) it was reading fine again. it was a strange thing. if there is not a leak there are only 2 possibilities right? my n1 oil pump is failing or the pressure sensor might have a fault. do you know, if the problem was to be caused by the oil pump failure, if it could be intermitent? like providing no pressure and then all of a sudden providing nice pressure again? i will try to check the oil pressure gauge connections also to see if i can find something wrong. any helps would be appreciated. thanks guys joao |

it might be mate.
i have bled the brake system yesterday and spilled a little bit. the distance between the brake oil reservoir and the pressure sender is around 20cms, but after the little spillage i washed it with alcohol and it might have gone a bit to the wire terminals. i will try to check it today. my doubt regarding possible pump failure, its because when you shut down the ignition, the stock oil pressure takes around 5 seconds to drop. but its well true that the hks oil pressure was showing 0 for more than 5 seconds. lets just hope my pump is ok. if anyone can shed a bit more of light i will check it this afternoon. thanks again mifn |

as i told you, i was in a hurry for the brakes and i really needed them all good to go this friday, so i went to alcon. all ready for the track day now. but as i said, you have been very helpful. if only i had more time. i believe the sensor is located in the oil sandwish plate used to feed the oil cooler, but i will see to it tomorrow. p.s.-how's africa? thanks for your help jan. take care my friend joao |
