There is one on my signature.

There was a quite spectacular one that I had to remove incase someone thought it had been captured on the road rather than on a track!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Do you want another 150bhp [kai] or another +500rpm powerband? [t04z]
id much rather have 800bhp+ capability than be restricted at 650bhp+, there are enough gears to always be in the powerband with the Kai.

powerband - the kai will be 5k to redline, and the t04z 4.5k to redline.
it will also make more HP for the boost pressure you run at.

The kai is reccomended over the kai BB, as various sources [including HKS i have read] reccomend that the Kai BB is only used at max of 1.9bar, but the Kai is used at 2.3bar+....

Yeah very true, due to the bearing set up. Although the Ball Bearing turbo spools up a bit quicker (about 300 rpm) it is not as strong as a sleeve bearing set up found in the KAI.

On the RB30, I would say without doubt that you would become bored very quickly with the T04.

Pupsi, it's all about the whistely job

I know John, but I can't source a T51, so will go for the T04z and also keep a lookout for a T51, F**k it, I'll try them both??

Make sure you get the big exhaust housing mate, I think Alex at GT Garage was selling a T51 kit a while ago, check the traders section mate.

Thanks for that link, but I've already committed to the T04z, I'll still get a T51 later.

How do these turbos compare to T78s and T88s?

I'm a relative newbie to single turbo conversions but whenever I hear anybody talking about T78s I always hear "lag lag lag". Am I right in thinking that a T78 is good to 650bhp and that so is the T04Z? And the T88 is good to 850-900 bhp and so is the T51 KAI?

If this is right then are the HKS turbos more efficient? Am I correct in thinking that the T78 and T88s are oldskool in comparisson?

What would you recommend for somebody that wants quick spooling 600bhp for road environments?

Cheers

The to4z and the Kai will spool a few hundred rpm sooner than the older Trust turbo's.

'lag' is often mistaken for the 'powerband' by some people, if you dont mind using the right gear for your speed [you want to be over ~5k rpm when you floor it], then you can easily drive a big single on the road [ I have only driven an 800bhp turbo, cant comment on the 800-1000bhp turbos as you may drop out of the powerband - depending on your engine spec & setup and gearbox type.].

Plus the sound of the kai is worth it over the Trust IMO !!!

t78-33d 600+ bhp
t78-34d 650+ bhp
t04z 650+ bhp

t88-33d 750+ bhp
t88 34d 800+ bhp
T51R kai 800+ bhp

t88H-34d 900+
t88H-38GK 1000+bhp
T51R SPL 1000+bhp

In case you didn't get my message, can you please confirm which turbine housing you want 0.84, 0.96 or 1.00

Thanks Rob

In terms of power, what will the T04z, 0.96 set-up give at the wheels??

Spark's car with basicly an identicle engine and the 0.96 made 560whp on the rolling road dyno we use at just 1.55 bar on 98 pump gas.

Comparing results tweenie got with Jeffs car against the dyno numbers we got from Jeffs car once here, you may get a slightly higher whp figure from him, the bhp obviously worked out the about the same though.
