T04Z v T51 KAI

Which turbo out of these two will be the most reponsive ie; street racer, on a RIPs prepared RB30, fully ported race spec RB26 head, 1000cc injectors, Tomei 280 10.8 lift cams and gears and all supporting mods. Or is there another turbo to consider?? Looking for outright response rather than power output.

For PURE respons I would definately go for the T04Z at (650bhp).
But that is only if you would rarely/never use the extra power from the T51R (800hp). I think the driveability is not that bad with a T51R KAI on a RB30, but that is always a personal preferance. The T51R KAI will definately have the car going around 4500RPM. The T04Z will be more around 4000RPM. It all depends how often you will use the extra power against the better response from the T04Z.
In the end I would take the T51R KAI , but I never have enough power.

What will the car be used for mainly? Small street racer--> T04Z OR Highway racer --> T51R

Hi mate

This is what a T51r Kai BB does on a circuit On 1.45bar.

YouTube - Pro Import Skyline GT-R33 Time Attack

It's a 2.7L stroked Jun Engine with about the same specs as you discribed. We only have some more lift and duration on the cams. If you have any questions ask

Cheers,
Kevin

You still need to use the clutch in the sequential box.

Or you don't have to its called flat shifting.

didnt know they made anything that wasnt flat pack?
do DFS do a shifter too?

oh god that was aweful!haha

with a sequential do you have to rev match the gears so you dont have to worry about damaging any syncros etc or can you just ram it home?

is there any advantage to using the clutch over flat shifting? over saving the gearbox?

I find my OS88 shifts much nicer up through the box without the clutch, on the road i use the clutch to downshift but have shifted down a few times without. If you get the revs right it is nice to shift down without.

Rob

p.s. you should be banned for that!!! pmsl!!

I dont have to use the clutch i just do it to keep the gearbox a life as long as possible because we use this car on road drag and circuit. We don't come on a trailer we come with the car win the race and drives back home LOL.

It's a OSgiken 6sp sequential btw.

Cheers dudes
