what clutch have I got?

Ok I know this is a difficult one without taking the thing apart and looking, but that's going to cost far too much just to find out waht it is.

I've not driven any other skylines, so I have nothing to compare mine to, but its the only car I have driven that has no feel through the pedal. You cannot feel any bite point or resistance. Nothing. Its like one of those computer games, pedal just does down and up. It is also very heavy, you need strong legs! Does a standard clutch feel like this?

Once you get past the fact that there is no feel and learn where the bite point is it is great to drive with every day, through traffic and so on. Forces you to go into neutral at lights otherwise your leg will fall off keeping the pedal down! (not that I do that anyway, 'cause it will knacker the bearing).

No problems holding a modest 400hp.

It has been suggested to me that it may be a nismo super coppermix, but don't twin plates come on in stages? The way the car pulls away it feels like a single, but as I already said, I have not driven with a twin plate so I have nothing to compare it to.

I'm just curious so I can plan for when the inevitable happens...

Thanks

i have a carbonetics twin plate in mine and its lovely, not to heavy and very easy to live with almost like a stock clutch, and loads of feel

yours does not sound like a normal clutch unless there is something wrong with the vacume assist??

You will either have a paddle clutch or a a twin HKS (HKS clutchs feel really heavy and are not great for the road)

Carbonetic clutchs feel great and are good for road use, like the Os Giken they give a standard peddle feel!

Scoot underneath remove the slave cylinder, remove the rubber boot that seals the clutch arm and have a peep inside

Push the clutch pedal down - if it rattles chances are it's a twin.
If it's bitey as f**k, rattles like there's something broken and you need legs like he-man it's probably an HKS twin like mine heh!

Thanks for the replies, its great on the road ,even driving through slow traffic start/stop (like I just spent 45 minutes doing!), it does not rattle and it's not "bitey" but it does have a slight on/off effect. Will be down Abbey in August hopefully so maybe they can shed some light on it - they must have driven pretty much every clutch going.

Thanks for the help! I'll let you know when I know.
