Thumbs up Possible GroupBuy Optima Yellow Top Battery

As my skyline is now a weekend toy, I am constantly fighting to find a decent battery that will alow it crank over after 8-9 days. With all the security devices causing a constant drain I have now decided to go for a Deep cycle yellow top Optima battery. see link

Optima Yellow Top YT S 2.7RJ (Japanese Terminals) (Reversed) (8072-176) - Optima Batteries - Optima Yellow Top Batteries

After contacting a few suppliers I have found that £150 its not a bad price. I have talked to the supplier in question and he is willing to drop the price of the Optima battery further if we can secure several more buyers. The supplier is based off the A13 in barking.

The battery is the Optima Yellow Top
YT S 2.7RJ
(Japanese Terminals) (Reversed)
(8072-176)

This will fit snug in the original location and should not pose any problems. If anyone is interested please register your interest here and that way I can get a better price.

Cheers,

Ray

Hi Ray,

I can't see it being a problem, but have you contacted Admin about conducting a group buy?

If not, please PM Blow Dog or Mookistar.

Some info from the optima website

The OPTIMA YellowTop

Demand more from your vehicle? Then get more from your battery. OPTIMA YellowTop batteries are made for the extremes. Whether your vehicle is designed to take the abuse of off-road driving or even cranking out decibels, you need increased performance and reliability from your battery. OPTIMA batteries combine patented SPIRALCELL® Technology to deliver that performance. The deep cycle characteristics of this technology coupled with its extreme resistance to vibration provides performance vehicles with the repetitive power they need, packaged in a spill-proof compact design.

If your vehicle is fitted with high drain accessories such as additional lighting, tracking devices, ICE systems, winches, hydraulics etc, then this ultimately demands more from your battery. OPTIMA YellowTOP batteries provide the extra performance and deep cycling capability that your vehicle demands.

The OPTIMA RedTop

The looks alone generate plenty of interest. But it's the patented SPIRALCELL® Technology in OPTIMA RedTop batteries that's truly worthy of praise. OPTIMA RedTop batteries are built to withstand the abuse Trucks, Racers and 4x4's experience on and off-road. SPIRALCELL Technology immobilises the internal components of the battery, enabling OPTIMA batteries to withstand incredible amounts of vibration.

Vehicles modified for improved engine performance demand more from a battery. OPTIMA batteries withstand the high engine bay temperatures associated with these Performance vehicles. The sealed construction makes the battery spill-proof, even if you install it on its side! This prevents external gassing and leaking which can damage engine components and reduce battery performance.

If your battery is used in applications that demand extra reliability endurance and performance, or if you just take pride in getting the best performance out of your vehicle, OPTIMA RedTop batteries deliver the performance you demand.

Yellow top is best suited, especially if have a tracker, power hungry alarm etc..The YellowTop can endure many charge / discharge cycles without losing significant capacity. OPTIMA batteries are also ideal for seasonal use because of its very low rate of self-discharge.
Thus allowing you to store your seasonal vehicles (classic car / boat) throughout the winter, without the need for regular charging and still spring out of the starting block when winter is over.

Hope this helps

Why not just install and use a battery conditioner ?

For the past 2 years I've been using a CTEK XS 3600, the best £40 odd I've ever spent, and very easy to semi-permanently wire in too.

CTEK MULTI XS 3600 - Features

Edit : just clicked on the link in the first post and the page that shows the battery even shows the CTEK as an optional extra, now £49.95.

I park my car in an secure underground carpark now, hence there is no socket to plug in the charger. Before it was garaged and it used to have a battery conditioner connected to it all the time. Now I have to arm all the security devices and its starting to drain the battery after a week.

At least with the yellow top I can get 2 weeks plus without having to run around to jumpstart everytime on the weekend.

Cheers,

Ray
