Get a CF card (or an SD card with CF adaptor etc), and drag/drop the MP3s from iTunes to the card. Then plug card into the CF slot on the GTR.

Sounds better than A2DP IMHO
downside is it won't play protected music purchased from itunes though....

I think for the JDM spec, the 30GB HDD is populated with satnav etc and other apps, so the actual space left is 10GB.

As for "ripping" to the HDD, I think it only rips Audio CDs. Don't think it allows you to copy MP3s from a CD to the HDD.

I don't think it plays MP3s off DVDs. Only CD.

It's a pity that UK non satnav cars will still only have 9.4GB (or whatever) available on the built in hard drive which leads me to question the, "you cant retrospectively upgrade to satnav."

I'm sure someone will work out how to reformat the HDD in the system so there is no useless satnav partition on it, after all it's probably on a 2.5" 30GB IDE hard drive.

Surely much easier to just replace the HDD with a larger capacity.

That depends on how the system is configured to use it as a music storage device.

It should be possible to use a disk image software to copy the partitions across to a larger volume.

Similar thing can be done with a SKY+ box. Mine currently has a 1Tb drive which holds lots of HD films!

I would be very surprised if there wasnt a working method by the time our cars arrive next year!

I have a original sky+ box that came with 40GB I stuck a 160GB in.

Its getting into the dash to get the drive out, its all a bit new for my ham fisted screw driver? You can use partition magic to copy the partition and grow it to the size you need to a bigger drive.

I will check the DVD won't play MP3s I will stick limited number of files
