I need to relocate my battery from the stock location to the boot.
I intend to house the battery in a box such as this:-

and run a +ve cable to the front to connect to the OEM +ve connector. Problem is with the -ve side of things...Normally I would just earth the -ve battery terminal to a point in the boot but I have an earthing kit eunning arounf the engine bay.
The options are to, as above,1) run a cable to a point in the boot; 2) Run a cable to the engine bay to connect to the OEM -ve terminal; 3) run a cable to a point in the boot AND from there run another cable to the OEM -ve terminal.

What do you guys think would be the best way of solving this problem...auto electrics was never my strong point TBH

Option 3 but with a smaller gauge cable to the engine bay earth.

I would also bin the battery for a Red Top 30 type and save a bit of weight.
In fact that is exactly what I'm doing.

Yeah, kind of thought that was the best way to go TBH. As for the Red Top, I was considering it but I've just gone and bought a new micra battery. Mind you, it was only £35 and I could probably use it in the garage

Any pointers on where to get a cheap Red Top??

Powervamp do a red top style that they claim is identical to Varley and made in the same factory.

Also Rally Design for genuine red-top.

If you run seperate + and - wires always run the same gauge.. otherwise no benefit from the "bigger" one.

No need for a negative cable tbh, earth is earth all over the car.. Just make sure it is earthed to an appropriate place.
I got ho,d of an extension cable for a welder and used that, very flexible with a silicon thick cover and at 35 square mm thick enough for a few hundred amps
