As you probably already know, I am running a sweepstake on the Top Gear laptime for the GT-R (Top Gear Laptime Sweepstake), with 30% of the money going to CLICSargent (http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/Aboutus), a charity that helps children with cancer.

A few of you have kindly said that, if you win, you will donate all your winnings to the charity. I will do the same. However, this is not guaranteed so, as we've only received £110 so far, the charity could get as little as £40. For a group of about 125+ individuals who've collectively spent about £7,000,000 on a car, not to mention the 200+ voters on the original poll who haven't actually ordered a GT-R, I find this very embarrassing.

Although the idea of giving money to charity wasn't my idea originally (so I can't take the credit), I feel responsible for ensuring that we get as much money as possible for the sick kids.

Therefore, for every £5 bet received between now and the broadcast of the Top Gear episode featuring the GT-R (rumoured to be on 13 July 2008), I will donate an additional £5 to the charity.

Folks

So far only 10 of you have placed bets since I made this offer.

It's a bargain. Pay £5 to the sweepstake and at least £6.50 will go to charity and you might win a few quid in the process.

Where's the downside?
