R35 - Using gear oil as TM oil
I know of a few owner has replaced the TM oil with 75W-140 gear oil, for the sake of lower gearbox noise. So far the only noticeable setback is a higher TM oil temp, can anyone one shed some lights on this ?

Yeap. TM oil is almost like engine oil.
In any case, why not use the original Nissan TM oil? I know even tuning houses like Amuse/MCR use original Nissan TM oil, even if they change the diff/final drive/engine oil to other brands. |

tm oil temp is the r35's achilles' heel. why would these guys risk higher temp and potential failure to reduce (minor) noise? which workshop? how much higher is tm oil temp now for street and for track?

if the tm oil temp is the achilles heel, how to solve that? are there oil compositions which can stand the higher temp better? work better at lower temps?

Was told the TM oil temp went up as much as 10 - 15°C, for road use I think its fine but for track I dunno. For zele's oil cooler I think they installed it at the "Hot" spot of our R35, wonder if it helps on oil temp. BTW where to get R35 TM oil in Singapore ? This workshop has another theory, 50% of 10-50 + 50% of 0-30 gives you 5W-40 oil, buy it ?

Thought safety was 130 - someone I know tracked monday and his car went to safety mode at 130.

Mea culpa - it wasnt the TM temp - which was 133 and not in the safety zone, but the engine oil temp which touched 130.
