Cams from an BNR34 N1.

I did searches and was unable to get a straight answer.
Does the N1 have different cams from the normal RB26's? Some people say they have higher cam profiles, some say they are no different.
Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks for the reply joker69.
Can you confirm this?

This is what I found on the Tomei website.
Looks like it's the same according to this chart.

So are they different? Has anyone actually measured and compared them?

without understanding japanese, the gtr34 and 34-n1 seem to have the same spec - which is different to 32 and 33 in the last in and ex columns (117&121)

, although the r32 and 33 have the number value [125] in the last [ex] column, and the r33 n1 has the number [120].

But i would read the duration and lift as the same for all, unsure what the last [in] and [ex] column values are for?

From my understanding (and i maybe wrong) but i thought it was just the Nurs on the 34`s that had slightly different cams.

hodgie,
Do you know what are the specs for the cams from the N1 engine in the Nur's?

I want to make a comparison as I've gotten some Poncam Type B and I've been told they are not much of an upgrade from the stock N1's in the Nur's.

R34N1 (Nur) cams are the same lift, duration and L.C. as standard R34 GTR camshafts

The R32/33 N1's had the exhaust L.C. retarded 5 degs but the lobes are the same. Because of the crank angle sensor the R34 cams cannot be used in earlier GTRs

SAU Roy,
Thank you for the information. Can you confirm this?

I guess I don't feel so bad getting the Poncams after all.

Cheers

You can see the following on the Tomei sheet:
R32/33/34 GTR = intake cam 113 degree LSA and exhaust 125 degree LSA
R34 N1 GTR = intake cam 117 degree LSA and exhaust 121 degree LSA

So the cams are the same in the R34 N1 engine but they are times differently (cam timing).

Jonne,

Surely the table reads that the 117 degree and 121 degree entries are for the R34 engines (N1 and Std)??
the 113 degree and 125 degree are for the R32 and 33 engines (Std) with 120 degree ex for the 33N1 engine??

Cheers.
