not sure if it's "UK approved" CAT 1.

When Nissan brings its own cars to the UK/US they have a different keyfob than JDM. I've seen them they in the flesh and they are different

For the purposes of the ESVA the keyfob on the JDM has the 'wrong' frequency for the UK and will not be allowed to pass.
The alarm on the jdm is however thatcham approved so technically it seems to be fine for insurance purposes as I understand.

Nissan Netherlands arranging for special insurance which accepts the standard alarm system. Will know details in a week or 2 but as such a nice idea when dont have to beg all insurance companies for a quote.

Well i'm hoping they would accept the standard security, as mine is the JDM premium edition. May be worth contacting Nissan Japan to receive some form of a confirmation letter?

Don't really want to be drilling holes everywhere when there is a CAT1 already installed from Nissan.
