No way you'l get a Civic VT (EE9) for less than a grand, If you do it must be ****ed. Your looking at around £1500-£2300 for a Good UK one and over £3k for a imported one.
Starlet GT's are out of the window aswell, near impossible to get one for under a grand. Corolla GTI's are awesome cars, Very very comfatable, very nippy, same engine as the AE86 (4AGE) however later 1990 plus GTIs have a hi-torque $age which produces more ponies than the TVIS version (Which is in AE86's and early corolla gti's). Only thing with them cars is rust but just look for a clean car and you can find something decent for £800-1100. These cars are also increasing in value. Iv owned a corolla gti for the last 2.5 years very nice car. Also got another one outside. Good on fuel, Quick, VERY comfatable and robust interior, VERY reliable. Only bad thing is rust (Archs, tailgate, sunroof, sills) but not hard to find a good one. SWIFT GTI's are also amazing cars but they rust everywhere and incredibly quickly. But there ment to be VERY quick and handel amazing. |

Another one you can look at is the ED7.
Mk4 Honda Civic 16v, D16a DOHC 1.6 litre engine with bullet proof realiability. They are cheaper then the CRX because they are less sort after. You should be able to pick up a good standard one for under a grand... and they are great car. You can pick up a VT (VTEC) for around 1500, but expect it to be rust to hell and back...

Dont be silly Sunshine. Nobodys saying the cars are in good condition for under £1k, but there about. Oh look a small amount of work needed and it has a thing called a Turbo!! Sold for £510 item 200239102722. There are more on Ebay now with just hours to go and there not even close to £1k! The cars are there its up to the buyer to decide if there worth having And as TREV has said-you can easily import a good one for under £1k. Last edited by TREG; 22nd July 2008 at 10:54 PM. |

imo, a gen 6 celica 2.0 (st202), brilliant cars, good revvy engine, backed up with good sleek looks and bullet proof reliability. You can pick one up for around 1k if you look hard enough, i bought a white JDM st202 for £850, and didnt need anything doing!

Small amount of work? Its FU*KED. No Tax or MOT, knackered engine, lock damage from an attempted theft, and still 510quid. Hours to go? lol. The one with the least amount of time left under a grand has 3.5days left. All others even with a day left are well over a grand. And I just had a look through Starlet Turbos that have gone through the export auctions in Japan over the last few weeks, only a few went through cheaper than a grand FOB, ones about 18yrs old. And thats FOB, add shipping, import tax, clearance fees, registration, tax, mot, and whats that? Yes, coming on for 2k. Are you looking at a special ebay and a special japanese auction that nobody else can see, or did you think ive never thought of looking myself? ![]() Fantastic little cars, but your on another planet thinking you can import one or get a half decent one in the UK for a G |

Lol,didnt think you would like a sarcastic reply back! As I said earlier noone said there decent-in fact theres no mention on this whole thread that the car has to be decent for £1k and to be honest I dont think many of the cars would be. In terms of importing one, prices have dropped right down. You can pick them up with high miles or ropey paint work for that sort of money.Sure there not decent-but as I said noone ever said decent, except you! If your patient and able to work on the car yourself there turn up. Last edited by TREG; 23rd July 2008 at 06:37 AM. |

Thats like me saying I imported a 8000bhp Enzo and it was mint and had a winning lottery ticket in the glovebox.
Ie bollocks internet talk with nothing backing it up. You can get any shed under a grand if you dont mind the state its in, even a GTR, but nobodys mentioned that either, and the reason is its retarded when someone is asking for a sub 1000quid car to suggest a car costing about 1000quid that needs the same again worked on it... |

They arent exactly reliable though, clutches and gearboxes are exp though! about 800 for a clutch change ive heard?! sun roofs leak all the time. We got our one dirt cheap as there was history but was mechanically sound, couple of dents etc (rear boot and front arch) bought both for £40 from ebay so looks good as new. It is about non stop searching, he bought a MINT cammed and tuned 'show' saxo for 1100, driveshafts were knackered but again £30 from ebay! now that one is rapid for the money! kicked the hell out of the standard one! They are awesome for lift off oversteer! its ridiculous!

Let me know where those under £1k Gtrs are-there worth more than that in parts alone. I think that most performance cars for under £1k are going to be pretty rough-but I'm sure theres a few bargains there somewhere. ![]() As a couple of new ideas-not great but maybe a Mx5 or Golf Gti mk2 or 3?
