Laser/radar jammer/detector...

Guys,

Don't know where to post this thread, so I'll try here...
I have a question about that stuff (laser/radar jammers and detectors).
As I am waiting for my GTR to arrive (year and 4 months to go... ), I am thinking about buying one of those devices (I would use it on my present car too). So, do you have any experience with those laser jammers, or radar detectors?
I found "Blinder" and "Escort" on the net as most popular ones...Would you reccommend them, do they actually work (especially the jammers (shifters))?
As I understood, there are jammers (shifters) which block the laser guns and radar detectors which only detect radars. Do you know which ones can detect and block those police cars equipped with cameras that folow you on the highways?

Thanx

camera is just that matey, a camera. you cant block it, if you get followed by cop car with camera and you do something daft then your stuffed.
laser jammers are disguised as parking sensors or garage door openers etc, if you are caught and dont have the garage door to use it on then your done for perverting the course of justice (quite more serious than speeding ticket) also they only scramble the first attempt, after 3-5 seconds the gun will give another reading so depend how fast your going as to wether you can get within the limit in that time again.
the only thing i have heard that can detect a police car is like an airwaves scanner that can detect the frequency of the new stuff their using but i havent found any info on it and all it will do is tell you a car is nearby if the radio is on. not much help when on a motorway and the car is probably over a mile away watching you.
better to get the ticket and try legal routes to get out of it rather than get a jammer imo.

About that camera, you misunderstood, ofcourse that camera will take a video, but here they have cameras with radars/lasers, and they use it only for driving behind you and measuring your speed. So something like radar detector or jammer would be useful...
Let's say that I don't care for being caught for haveing the detector/jammer. I do care much more for speeding tickets. Which one would you reccommend? Escort, Blinder, Valentine1...? And would you reccommend laser jammers (they have to be proffesionally installed) or just a detector?

Thanx

Perverting the course of justice carries a jail sentence of up to 25 years I think...

^^ just what i was thinking.
here, as in UK the cameras are calibrated with the car and have nothing to do with lasers or radars.

Hmmm, maybe I am wrong...
Maybe they have cameras calibrated with the car, and no lasers or radars...I really don't know how it works, I just know that they measure speed when they goa fter you...
Although, I have ordered the Escort Passport 8500 X50 detector, we will see how it works when it arrives...320$ with shipping from the USA is not so much...

When the Police are behind you and filming they will measure your speed between two fixed points via an entirely manual process that the officer controls - there is no laser/radar element involved at all, it's all based off the principal that the speedo in the vehicle they drive is calibrated to a legal standard. If you get filmed on VASCAR breaking the Law then you are stuffed, end of story.

Likewise as already mentioned using radar/laser jammers on the road in an attempt to disrupt the radar/laser gun being used by an officer measuring your speed is the very definition of "Perverting the Course of Justice". In instances like that not only would you have to prove you legitimately had a use for such a device (i.e. owned a garage that was fitted with a corresponding automatic opener, etc), but also convince the Mags in the court why you were trying to open your garage on the M4. There have been several cases of people getting jail time for PtCoJ by jamming the Police.

To be brutally honest I don't see the point of detectors at all - they work on the principal that they pick up the signal being pointed at you, by which point of course you will already have been caught. You're better off spending the money on a TomTom or equivalent satnav with a speed camera database addon so you get advanced warning of known camera sites.

As Durzel said and I might add, a jammed laser detector results in an error message on the gun, the police will log your reg number and put a flag against your car on the police database. They could wait until they pull you for something else or pay you a visit, possibly impounding your car while they take it apart....sorry investigate it for illegal devices
