What max power on std RB26 internals

In not looking for your thoughts on limits but I want to know how far anyone has gone on std internals, i.e. block, rods, pistons and crank.

from that list Paul, i would say the pistons will be your weak point at anywhere between 500 and 600hp.

i read somewhere that 700 had been achieved several times, big enough turbo(s) and a conservative map was fine.

I had a 33 that was running 470 atw as a track car and my 34 has been at 490 atw with loads of abuse, Im just keen to see if that could be increased with some degree of reliability

Have a look with Search - it's been covered many times on here and there are lots of perspectives on this one.

Quite a few people have gone to 500-550 on their daily drivers?? for track use, with those figures, its anyones guess how long the engine will last.

Haven't RIP built some very high power engines on stock internals? Try asking them.

From memory they say the standard internals can handle loads of power if the mapping is correct, in excess of 600whp.

Sure a search will find the thread.

Cheers,

Seems that as long as the oil is changed regular and the revs kept down to a safe level say 8000max, it should work for a reasonable time.

Some guys claim over 1000hp on stock pistons but we have only been to about 750 and 7200rpm.

I find it very hard to believe people break stock pistons at 600-800hp and reasonable rpm due to "outright power", I would almost guarantee the failer was a result of a tuning issue and I bet most of them had cracked ring lands not a piston broken in 1/2 through the gudgeon pin hole.

I'm amazed how strong the standard engines are.

Not all production engines are this strong are they ?
