If they where slashed they spent a bit of time going around all four.

I checked everything after discovering this. tyre pressures, camber, tracking and balancing and all was okay. Just can't find a reason.

the damage sustained by yours is totally different from mine: in my case the tyres wore in the usual way - equally across the contact face - but just did so very very quickly. I'd be interested to hear what the report says about yours and i'll let you know when i hear on mine

Hi sammy,
Fitted a set of so3s onto an r33 V-spec recently, replacing a set of S02s and am having a similar problem with wear. Haven't even taken it on a track and with 7k (commuting!) miles already they are getting close to the limit. I think they must be a very soft compound.
Be warned though, once they get 3/4 worn they will go off very quickly as I am told the heat cannot dissipate properly from a tyre of that width and hence they tend to cook themselves towards the end. I will be trying something diferent next time as although the dry grip is fantastic they have let go once or twice in the wet when I would have expected them to hold the line, suggestions?

Cannot find the details of the Evo survey, anyone have a summary?

hi max - interesting that someone has had similar experience but even taking account of a softer compound i think that my SO3s were pretty poor. As for your replacement i suppose it depends on whether you are just having to replace 2 tyres (in which case i'd probably go for RE040s, which are much harder and tug a bit on uneven lanes but are generally pretty good). If i were replacing all 4 tyres though, I'd have given something new a shot - probably the Toyos

Thanks for the post. I have found that I seem to get pretty even wear between front and rears so have never been able to get away with just doing one end.....probably says someting about my crap driving. I agree though... a change is overdue, no decisions yet but another set of s03s is currently unlikely at the present wear rate.

I got the report back from the Bridgestone engineer, after an hour inspection of each tyre. He said that the breakup and cracks where due to high cornering force's ( No Comment ) but he admits that they shouldn't have gone this way.
I also commented on the tyre wear and he put that down to lack of grip maybe wheel spining but as soon as i mentioned front tyres and told him its a rear wheel drive he wrote them off.

Helpful guy, saved me spending out a few pounds for another round of tyres. I would recomend that you contact Bridgestone UK and get yours inspected, What the hell its free anyway.

I've got a new set of boots ready to replace my worn SO2's but was holding off until I've been round Silverstone on Monday.
However, following Max's comments about Bridgestones going off rapidly towards the end (mine are just about legal), should I put the new ones on before the track day? or squeeze the last drop out of the old ones?

PS. I can't do a 'GUY' at the track as I'll have to drive 40 miles to have the new ones fitted.

I'm currently working on a tyre deal. I hope to have some information soon but they should be able to fit several makes and sizes to Skylines and will do it at home/work etc. I will keep you posted.

From the above list I can see what tyre makes we should ask for (not guaranteed) but still need to know what sizes are preferred. Obviously they can't hold all sizes/makes but will do there best. As far as I can see (from scouring previous discussions) the following sizes are preferred;
245/45/17
255/40/17
265/35/18
275/35/18

If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.

i dont suppose you could do me a favour and ask if the supplier you are getting a deal from could source some of the tyres mentioned in todays thread i placed in the wheels /tyres etc section of the forum??
Would be particularly inetrested in the RE55S or any of the yokos but would settle for any of the specialist tyres mentioned by DCD!
Thanks mate, not being lazy but every tyre supplier i ask thinks i`m off my head as they haven`t got listings for any of them!!

Does anyone know where I can get a couple of BR SO-2's? I've got a couple of scrubbed ones on the back, but a set of still useable on the front. The size is 275/35/18.

If the answer is no and I've got to get new on all corners, what should I be going for?

Hi Rupert,
There is a place locally to you in Brentford that I've had SO2's from before. Its called Autowise at 129/130 High Street Brentford.
Its located at the following location

The guy you need to see/speak to is Ian Hutchinson. He's very helpfull. (mention you've got a Skyline - he likes them!!)

If he can't help you then either Micheldever down the M3/A303 or Bracknell Tyres. (They are very helpfull and respectfull of decent Rims !!)

is there any chance you could have a look at my post in the maintenance section,tyres, suspension etc regarding the tyres that dcd suggested?? I have been spoken to like i`m some sort of idiot when i have asked for prices on these from various suppliers as they dont seem to be listed. As a last resort(!!) i would settle for yokohama A032R`s,
