GTR Gearbox Poll
3rd to 4th grinds sometimes and is spoiling the Skyline experience for me... putting up with it but will need to do something soon.... alas m o r e money to the liner fund... ahh well in a good cause I suppose.

So...

1st one jammed up at Santa pod. Stuck in 3rd...

2nd one is good as gold. It's a late 33 box though, so it should be better than an early 32 box

Slight crunch going into Fifth gear on mine. Will fix but I am in no rush as I am doing a lot of hard pull aways. I could fix Fifth and blow One of the other gears

4th to 5th crunches on mine

Going to try some Redline heavy shock proof oil to see if it helps.

1st happens to me also... depends really but ALWAYS sodding 4th! grinds when 3rd - 4th..

Hmmm Cokey was on about Redline... I wonder if it's worth a bash, anyone treat their box with it and had success ?

I use Redline Heavy Shockproof in my R33 GTS-T box and VLSD and it seems to work well although I never actually used the gearbox pre-Redline so I don't know if its cured any previous problems

Only downside I've found (apart from the cost of the oil) is that in the winter it needs to warmup for a minute or so first thing otherwise its a bit tricky to get first gear and 9 times out of 10 you end up graunching from first to second when you first move off. It seems to be fine at this time of the year though.
If it was for road use only then the Redline Medium Shockproof oil might be a better bet to avoid the problems I mentioned.

Those thick oils are not a long term fix, I was going to try the Redline Rumble test day as a fix for my gearbox kill or cure!

I run redline heavyduty shockproof oil. Seems to work for me so far.

the best oil for the GTR gearbox is the "smurf blood" redline super light weight shock proof....

I had a heavy crunch 3rd to 4th.... when hot....


now? not a noise to be heard at any temp! so I would HIGHLY recommend the blue stuff!

Hmmmm.... either you are a Redline sales rep.. or this is the answer! Anyone else on the redline products... going to check the site out now... Jesus.. 9:14am am I'm looking at gearbox lubricant... I NEED to get out more... s0dding liners... wreck your life!
