Its just a bit missleading for some when they buy a 'japanese' or 'usa' brand believing the quality is superior to what most think is 'chinese crap' only to find out they all the same after all.

40 years ago everyone thought these odd little cars and radios (with such unfamiliar names as 'Honda' and 'Sony') coming in from Japan were crap too.
Can you see our kids or grandkids going spastic over tuning their Chinese cars and insisting on genuine Chinese parts, versus that "Nigerian crap" :P I think the most telling thing was when I used to work for The North Face, in San Francisco. We outsourced 90% of manufacturing to China, and only certain, really specialty items were made in-house. I remember a guy bitching about it, remembering the good old days when everything was made in a local factory. My workshop was adjacent to the main sewing room for all US-made product. The room was, to a person, filled with Chinese women, happily chatting along in Chinese. Whether they're paid cheap Chinese wages or high American wages, the stuff's all Chinese made anyways :P

cat power
Just been on the cat power site and it says that it is a US based company, there doesn’t seem to be much info on how or where the products are made, US or China? Also they don't appear to list any conrods for the RB26 engine, this seems to get more and more confusing? You ordered a set of eagle rods from a company in the US, received cat power rods that are made in china, which where branded with the name of a famous Japanese company?
Nevertheless I think you got a very good buy there for $350, stock conrods in the UK will probably cost twice as much. Very tempted to follow suit and buy these rods myself. || Catpep || |

Quality varies even within China and we can all spot the difference. China builds the world buys thats the simple fact of the world we are living in today, some countries will increase charges on chinese products and some are just angery on the low prices that come out of China because they can not compete....

Hey.... you get sued in USA for serving hot coffe, or not putting on the microwave that you cant dry your cat in there. Would they really try to sell a copied product, totally exactly copied to the logo?? Wouldnt Tomei take legal action against them? Last edited by Asim R32GTR; 1st May 2007 at 11:45 AM. |

Sure . They are in Baldwin Park. Notorious knockoff places in Baldwin Park. There are plenty of places locally that copy products exactly. Something is just really fishy about that whole thing. Supposed to be eagles,in a CAT box, and they are Tomeis? Anyone see the counterfit Apex'i and Tein parts ? How about fake designer products? If I were going to make some fake rods, I would pick some expensive ones. |

Yes,just checked that with my "true" Tomei rods, that are installed in my second engineblock,ARP L19 bolts are installed in the tomei´s,cant check the look of the logo, but they have just a 4 digit number on one side of the big end bearing,Eaglerods have normaly more infos one side.
From the look,i would say they look the same, but the look has nothing to say ![]()

Perhaps this company is copying Tomei rods????Someone should inform Tomei. This can ruin there reputation if forgery is going on. I seem to remember that a co in China was copying Apexi turbo timers not so long ago.

Everyone is copying everything. Buy quality for your expensive motor or if your safety is concerned.

The finish on the Tomei Rods is also slightly different, the ARP 2000 on your rods has also been stamped in very agriculturally.
Glad i didnt put conterfeit Tomei's in Evo V1's engine ![]() All jokes aside get them balanced if your worried, i'm sure they will be fine (rod bolts not sure) Rob
