a family friend had a TT for a long time, was a stunning car. he sold it, bought a subaru, got bored of that and bought another turbo straight away. then sold that and bought a gt3 rs.
he says the gt3 is a much more involved drive but as an overall car the turbo was the best. His family loved it too!
He does track his cars as well and never had any problems with his turbo on the track. On the track though his rs does trounce the turbo but it didnt render it completely flummuxed!
Turbo all the way personally!

Thanks for the responses folks....
Unfortunately it looks like the C2S is sold which is kind of a shame. The black one you mention Cem looks great, might be worth a look.
As for Tiptronic, I agree that a manual would be better and to that end I am trying to convince the missus not to be a lazy so-and-so and get back to changing gear the PROPER way
Seems a few folks didnt like the aero kit on the red car for some reason???As it was a car specced by Porsche themselves with a genuine kit I'm sure they were not trying to go down the 'fake GT3' road.

Anyway, back on the lookout..........

TT

i haven't driven the Carerra models but i have had a go with at GT3RS.. For the all out driving experience, that car is just bloody amazing. Just the look and feel, and having the rollcage. Unfortunately can't comment on any of the technical issues / problems.

I have come up against a GT3RS on the highway, twice.. One of these times i was following the Porsche for about 200kms on a trip with twisties and straights. And both times i was driving my Opel/Vauxhall Astra VXR daily driver. Amazingly, the straightline speed wasn't enough to drop me out of sights, but the cornering ability just blew my mind away.

I don't imagine the Carrera models are on the same level, but if they have the same DNA as the GT3RS (N/A, same susp feel only softer??) then bloody hell the C2S has to be the car.

rasonline,

I think you hit the nail on the head anybody in their right mind would have test driven the car - just laziness on my part.

P.S my family think it's a great car quiet safe etc.

Even more worrying is my 10 year old daughter thinks it's cool - shakes head in disbelief when there is a NUR in the garage.

Cheers

Hugh

My mate has just traded in his special ordered 997 C4 Man with full GT3 styling kit in Riviera Blue with 15k miles on her the trader is: NICK CARTWRIGHT Ferrari Specialist Cars-Restorations who has taken it in against a 5k miler Carrera GT at an estimated sale price around £300K!!!

I have no idea what the trader will be selling it for but i can tell you my mate paid £88K from Sheffield Porsche dealers around a year ago.

It's the best looking 997 i've seen, it has the 19" wheels with the black centre bits & the silver polished lip, a bit like the Techart Formula's & Riviera Blue is just Sex!

997 C2S over the TT for me. Unless your looking for tuning potential but i prefer the drive of the C2S over the 4wd of the TT.

Reimes blue??? if I'm not mistaken? It's an awesome (and brave!) colour - Ruf's signature.

are 993s ancient and unreliable, compared to current offerings? I still love the styling and the "melted" spoiler of the 993 TT.

Truth be told though, I've very little Porsche experience. My best mate drove a 944 Turbo in high school, so there was that. And last year I did a lot of troubleshooting work on a 959 (the manual is in English) in exchange for labor on my car. Ironic, the Porsche I know best (from having it gutted and helping my mechanic trace all the wiring and computers) and have the most behind-the-wheel time is probably the rarest.

Thats an amazing car Legan....beautiful.

Still looking for a 911 although it amazes me just how many of them are bloody silver. I HATE SILVER CARS..they look so bland.

As far as I can see only a few folks who buy NEW 911's and spec them have the balls to step outside blandland and choose a decent colour. WHY is it that if you have a car that isnt silver or, shock-horror, something that is red/yellow/light blue etc your seen as some sort of subversive and anti-establishment and everyone murmours in the background when you drive up in it?????? Even with a red M3 conv I sometimes hear folks say 'thats a bit of a statement isnt it?'... NO!!! Painting my house in psychadelic colours or colouring my hair pink is making a statement. Driving a car that ISNT silver IS NOT MAKING ANY STATEMENT FFS!!!

While I'm going off on one WHY is it that its OK to have lairy colours if its a GT3RS but frowned upon on a C2/C2S/C4/C4S?????. Annoys the F*** out of me it really does.

May just have to buy a boggo new 997 and have every panel a different lairy colour.

TT
