What is it then, never been too sure myself; Import @ 10%? VAT on price+import duty? So just under 6k? Is it really 5-6k for the ESVA?! |

Yep,
Total price of car shipped into UK Add import duty @ 10% to this figure Then add VAT to this new total @ 17.5% At which point you have a car which you can then take away from the docks but not actually use on the road !! Not sure if there is any smallish fees to add to this - long time since I last thought seriously about it. If it was 10years old you then just register it, MOT it and tax it and thats it - obviously there might be small costs in order to pass the MOT such as fog light etc. ESVA for this would likely be around 5-6k as theres only one model report which the owners charge about 4-5k for the use of plus any costs associated with putting it back to standard first and then putting all the mods back on. There is a second route I think with a sinngle vehicle emissions system but this too costs a few grand so typically with the UK its as broad as it is long and they'll get their piece of financial pie one way or another !! Hope this helps, J. |
