Nissan Holland seems to be convinced the GTR comes with a Class 5 alarm. They say its a uk approved system but they are not sure its approved by dutch insurance yet. Very odd. Would presume that if we get an UK aproved system you will get the same?? By the way, calss 5 means with tracker.

For those who don't know, Tracker monitor is the basic system. The next one up (Tracker Horizon?) has GPS as well. Tracker can provide a list of which insurance companies will give a discount for installing Tracker and how much. It is usually only 5%. Some companies, like Privilege, give no discount and just won't insure you if you don't install it.

That's interesting news about the class 5 alarm.
Does anyone know for definite about which alarm is coming with the UK car? as in exact make /model etc, it would help me find insurance estimates easier, and great peace of mind about this tracker situation.

Some info on Clifford, one of the typical options.................other than a baseball bat

Blackjax, from Clifford, enables you to recover your vehicle safely. When required, simply enter a 4 digit code into a secret switch, then should a vehicle door be opened whilst the engine is running it will discretely activate. After a few seconds the vehicles alarm siren, or horn, will sound and the hazard lights will start to flash. As soon as the vehicle is stationary (traffic light, junction etc) the engine will immobilise, rendering the vehicle stranded. When safe to do so you can return to the vehicle, enter your 4 digit code and safely drive away.

I dont think the UK spec will be finished yet. On the recent Beeb programme about car theft they interviewed someone from Nissan in the UK (Cranfield) who was busy spec'ing security systems for UK models (they had a 350Z in their workshop and a huge picture of a GT-R on the wall).
Someone else here has said there are at least 240 spec modifications for the euro models.....
The other comment on the programme was that cars with the UK-spec security are of a much higher standard than either US or JDM models, mainly due to the Thatcham tests....

So been thinking about this - especially as we had a lady held up in her own car here this month.
An Audi estate with a load of guys in balaclava's in broad daylight stopped her and took her new M3.

I've had the RAC version tracker fitted for a couple of years, all was well until I get a call from them saying they aren't receiving a signal. Fine I thought, come and fix it - They then informed me that the call out fee alone was £100 before they'd even got out the van and done anything. Needless to say I now have another companies product fitted.
