You'd only have got an e-mail if you booked it through them. Online bookings dont get one (you can correct him if you like!). First thing one will here is the arrival of the joining instructions *and* your helmet couriered (not posted) to you. Hope this helps! p.s. Keeping my fingers crossed about my helmet - trying to get Nissan to change the first name on my order from "John" to "John F" (They dont do middle names or initials). There are three generations of "John"s around and I'd like the helmet to be clearly mine! Last edited by WoREoD; 23rd June 2008 at 03:41 PM. |

Well Nissan are really starting to take the biscuit now - was told by them last week that an email was going around their office saying spectators will be allowed and that they would email me to this effect, and then I missed call on my answer service saying the dead opposite. I have esculated this to a complaint to see if i can obtain the correct answer from them and nothing as yet even though they promised to respond by end of business day. Talk about sh!te communication - Nissan you really need to inform your people, it is a terrible way to act in my book. Will post any official response i recieve.

I received this info from the Consierge service yesterday. Some of you will already have the info but just in case. Hope its of some use.
1 How does the programme work? Nissan Race Academy consists of four incremental skill levels or “Challenges”. Regardless of previous driving experience, drivers must acquire a pass certificate at each level before they progress to the next level. The four CHALLENGES are; Level 1: Nissan Race Academy TrackCHALLENGE Level 2: Nissan Race Academy RoadCHALLENGE Level 3: Nissan Race Academy SpeedCHALLENGE Level 4: Nissan Race Academy EliteCHALLENGE TrackCHALLENGE, RoadCHALLENGE and SpeedCHALLENGE are half-day programmes. EliteCHALLENGE is a full day. 2 What are the dates for the Race Academy launch events? For UK pre- order customers the following event dates apply Silverstone 4,5,6,7,13,20.21,22,24,27,28 August 2008, 1,2 ,5September 2008 Nurburgring 15,16,17,18 September 2008 For European pre-order customers the following dates apply Nurburgring 22,23,24,25 September 2008, 6,7,13,14,15,16,20,21,22,23,27 October 2008. Although English will be spoken at all events, additionally at Nurburgring there are specific language speaking days, these are: 15,16,17,18 September and 27 October – English 22,23,24,25 September and 6, 7 October – German 13,14,15,16 October – French 20 October – Spanish 21 October and 22 October AM – Italian 22 October PM - German 23 October – Slovak 3 How long does each Nissan Race Academy Launch Event last? Each event is scheduled to run for a half-day with guests invited to “morning” or “afternoon” sessions. 4 Will I need to provide any special equipment, clothing or my GT-R Helmet? Please bring your GT-R Helmet with you and make sure you wear appropriate clothing for attending an outside event. You will also need to ensure that you wear flat soled shoes. 5 What will the driving experience consist of? The launch event programme is a half-day Nissan Race Academy “sampler”. Activities include race circuit driving, experiencing GT-R’s advanced driving modes, drag-style acceleration and Drifting in 350z’s. 6 How many people will attend the event? Twenty driving places are allocated to each session. There will be two sessions per day, one in the morning , one in the afternoon |

Booked for 2nd September P.M. about 2 weeks ago. have had no email or other confirmation. I just phoned the concierge service but the girl didn't seem to have a clue. She said I should get confirmation in July.
Where can I find the information on the internet? I cant see anything about the race academy on the official site. Thanks for all the information posted so far. |

I too have not had an e-mail. However, if you go back into the events website you seem to be asked if you wish to modify your booking so I rang the concierge to confirm and he said he could see the booking too, so I hope its there.
He also said the next thing I'd hear would be the joining instructions (and helmet) arriving. My guess is they may be holding off doing confirmation stuff until after the 5th July confirmation date for obvious reasons..... |

Well after being told we could bring someone and then not, the response from the complaint my other half raised is as follows and not really an explanation as to why peoples other halves cannot sit and watch us. Not sure why the file has changed to red either

As I've said before I believe it will all be down to costs. Spectators require Marshalls - the circuit insurance, license, etc will insist on it. Marshalling a circuit the size of Silverstone for spectators will require lots of Marshalls. Even if you restrict spectators to specific areas, there is a risk that they will stray - particularly if they're bored. So much safer (and probably significantly cheaper) to say No Spectators.
At least they know the drivers wont stray from the action! |
