Fantastic race this year. So much going on. So many drivers and teams showing their class. Chuffed for Alan McNish, Dindo and Tom - that's some real talent right there.
The Astons in GT1 - Fantastic! The gulf colours, etc. The Corvettes probably the best sounding cars there again. Gutted that Amanda Stretton and Bob Berridge went out so early. Things will change soon though. Times are tumbling and with LMP1 qualifying sub 3:20 and even the GT2s now below 4 mins the rule makers are bound to interfere soon. As Fourtoes says, we really need to get a big GTROC trip going to Le Mans. It's been 10 years since I've been and I'd love to go again.

There was a trip organised and published in the Members Events section but only two of us put our name down and I had to pull out for work reasons.

moleman, were you there this year ? we were at beaujesour.....
Were you there this year mate? the Gendarm wereout in force this year, but we kinda out ran them, which w\as kinda coool. (tell ya more later0As you said we need a real presence at le mans, its one of the premier races of the calender, aNd tbh the europeans love the cars we have, cos they cant have them themselves!!!! (sound harsh, but kinda true)mso i always feel super privalidged having my car! Specially as it gets more attention than lambos, ferraris and other exotica that cost 3X the cost of our cars!!!!!!!

Sadly, no mate.
Watched most of it though. I know Ollie Gavin so always like to see the Corvettes get spanked by the Astons. lol As for the kudos the cars get, it's the same at the 'Ring. They may be Jap crap but they command a crowd like no other car in the Ring car park.

OH and btw, i had a real errr......... spead freak, (really nice guy tho) in a brand new 270 impreza drive along side me at the port.... and his words were, when i die im gonna come back as one of them! he said, they rock! seriously i think le mans is the ulitamate location for any Skyline. I spent most of the weekend talking to Fins, Dane's or Frenchies about my car they wouldnt give a 100K italian car a second look but would die to have their pic taken with a GTR, Kudos indeed! (or any other Skyline, GTS' etc)
Word to your mother and the lovely french cambered roads! ))))

Nice to hear that some other people were there. Didn't see a single GTR the whole time I was do there (beyond what might have been an R33 down a side street but I was quite "tired and emotional" at that point so...).
If you're planning to book I would recommend making a reservation with the ACO now, saves a fortune over the UK rip-off merchants. Oh and on the basis of this year's experience I'd suggest looking at Tetre Rouge rather than BJ - much nicer campsite! |
