Tell me stock GTR cams are made to go to 8k, if you do, you need to spend a little more time learning about cam specs. r/s ratio is the problem. Yes, I understand what you are saying about the RB26s design. I just cannot get into having to rev the shit out of a GTR just to keep up with 4cylinder. Its the issue with the r/s, not my cup of tea. Once again, I am referring to normal driving. Quote:

, that is why 2530 make more top end power. I know Sean likes 2530, and see you do as well, to each his own. I think your statement that the 2530 is the only turbo is wrong, that is all. GT-SS are better for normal road use, point blank. Better power on demand. |

Highly opiniotated subject this one.. You can't help but being bias in your answer.
I chose the 2860-7 (gt-ss equaivalent) mainly because I plan on keeping my motor stock right down to standard cams (may do gears), any bigger turbos and I won't be able to use them through there effiency range without worrying about something going pop. When it comes down to it... The GT-ss will make 3-320 atwk and the 2530 will make 400+... In layman terms the GT-ss equipped R with similiar driver in the 2530 equipped car will get his ass handed to him on the strip and long sweeping tracks ... While on the other hand the GT-ss equipped car should be as quick round the street and tight tracks, you wouldn't need to work hard to find power from the GT-ss car and you wouldn't need to down-match into boost peaks when looking for power... I like drugs. 2530s give more adrenaline. When I first road mapped my car, I walked away from it thinking "my god, what have I done, I've built a car that is too frightening for me to drive at full throttle".
It is addiction that keeps me pushing the boost higher. Time will tell but someday I might say 2530s are for pussies and twin 3037s are the only way to go... |

In a few years, I might be thinking 2530's are for pussies and a GT4088 is the only way to go. 2530s are EXTRAORDINARILY EASY to keep in their powerband and will hand a similarly equipped but GT-SS turbo'd car their ass in any situation. When you move into GT-RS territory, now you are talking about some big turbos with a high boost threshold where a smaller turbo car can have an advantage in some situations. I don't think there is any on an SS vs 2530 car. |

(not that I really know anything about them! All I know is I have 2530'd fitted and they seem good to me! lol - Plus I'm being deliberately argumentative cause its you! )Last edited by DaleHarrison; 22nd June 2008 at 07:56 PM. |

GT-SS all the way.
Most people i have spoken to have said that the GT-SS turbos are the best ones marketed for fast road application, yes they will be eaten by a 2530'd car on track but on the short and winding roads in our country the quicker spooling GT-SS's will be king! It isnt as if they dont produce decent power too. Rated to 550fhp they arent exactly poor turbos. Yes there are bigger ones but you need to ask for what application. Every engine will respond differently to different turbos. technically there is no generic turbo that is the 'best' for street use. It depends on your location, driving style and spec of engine. For me i felt that the GT-SS was more appropriate.

The concensus seems to be:
GT-SS if you spend most of your time at lower revs and really pay attention to spool up ability. (Road) GT2530 if you require bigger top-end power and don't mind an extra 500-1000rpm for the turbos to deliver. (Track) Naturally, some variations occur. Fair enough? |

have to say i agree with the 2530 option personally,
just got rid of the GT ss setup on my gtr was running 538 fwhp and with the cams and fcon ecu etc had vertually no lag to speak of had it all dialed out so it was very responsive from under 3000rpm, i did not like it because by 6500rpm there was nothing left and you had to change gear, alot of this was the way it was mapped and setup but did not suit my driving style. the other issue for me was it was very bad on fuel on a ong run do to being on boost so early cruising at 70 - 80 mph it was always on boost. My mate runs 2530's at 620 wfhp and he alway pisses all over me when we are going somewhere. when i drove his car i have to say i loved the way the 2530's come in a bit later at around 4200 rpm but its a much stronger hit, and when he drops from 5th on the motorway cruising to 3rd his car just takes off. both of us on the track and on the road he is always quicker, alright he is probably a beter driver than me, but for me having driven both the 2530 win every time. just my 2 pence worth, |
