The N1 driver stayed in top gear and just used the throttle to accelerate when required. The 2530 driver kept having to change down just to keep up. I'd imagine that'd get very tedious after a while. That's why I care about boost threshold. And it's also why I'm not alone.

That is what I am getting at when I say normal driving, GT-SS are way better They make a GTR more of a total car, more than just a race car. Sure they will lose to a 2530 set-up car above 6000rpms, but when driving how often are you in that threashhold? And they are not going to lose bad, speed limit is only 70mph ![]() From a dead stop, with a police friendly launch (something that will not give you a ticket) a GT-SS will beat a 2530! This will be a 98% of your driving. So, if you care about that 2%, by all means get the 2530 ![]()

![]() In a sense, the 2530s shift the powerband upwards. As long as you get into and stay within that powerband, it's nothing different from a GT-SS setup - except that you are more powerful. So I'd amend that situation - on the street, anyone who knows how to drive and spool up his 2530s will beat a GT-SS car every time.

I plan modifications based on what I want the car to do when driving in THAT environment, not puttering around city streets in traffic. If you want a car with plenty of low-end power that you don't have to shift to have fun with, you should buy a sporty luxobarge with automatic transmission and a V8. You didn't. You bought a sports car with an engine with great potential. Don't handicap it. Put 2530's on it. Shift the f*cking gears.

Good, because otherwise you'd be calling me a liar. lol I use my car f***ing hard. Take it on track every six weeks or so with regular trips to the 'Ring. I use the car for what it was intending for more than majority on here. The car is tuned as a good compromise between road and track. To suggest that I should get a lazy V8 just 'cos I don't like to change gear on the motorway or because somebody else - in a more powerful car - has to change down just to keep up is idiotic.

I want my car to be well rounded, not a car I have to rev the sh!t out every time I want some power.

Hello,
Last year i used a pair of GT-SS with tomei pons B on my bnr34. This year i changed for Tomei procams (270° 10.25 with no head modification) and hks 2530. In my opinion the last setup is much better than before. I have full boost (1.40) at about 4500/4600 rpm (before with gt-ss were about 4200). The power and torque are amazing for a rb26 with standard internals. No problem in street use with the power comes from 4000 rpm (about 1 bar) to 8200 rpm. Really not a great difference with GT-SS at low rpm. Now i have 62kgm of torque (under 5000 rpm) and i'm happy. ah, i can stay in top gear and just use the throttle to accelerate when required like my gt-ss (like wrote this is only my experience). And that's the second reply from someone who has driven both turbo setups (GT-SS vs GT2530) on a GT-R. Count is 0-and-2, favoring the 2530's.
Carlo, sounds like a sick setup. I think your cam selection is spot on, and I'll be going with the exact same cams.

His a R34, slight difference
![]() VVT does help on the low end, more so than the R32/R33 RB26s.

)I can get the 044 for about 140 quid and the other 2 for 200-210, so its just a matter of it being worth the hassle involved in fitting one ![]() Car is only used for fun as I have a company car for commuting etc, but I'm planning to do a few trackdays in the next month or so. At the moment its laggy as fcuk (I'm getting 1 bar at about 4500rpm!!) but Rob at PT said it was running quite rich in the midrange with not enough ignition advance so once the injectors pump and cam gears are on a remap should sort it. It almost feels like a big single the way the come in - floor it in 2nd from 3000 and it slowly gets past 4500 and takes off like a scalded cat! Was enough to beat a Speed Six the other day though I'm ideally looking for about 430-450hp at the wheels once its mapped with all the goodies fitted, and the sports cat removed By the way, should they whistle a little bit as they spin up? ![]() |
