This isnt true. The vast number of options make the car appear to be 15-20K over list. However I recently sold my X5 to a trader and he told me that R8's can now be sourced new for under list.

At the time it was first launched this is true - now is a different ball game as no one seems to be waiting for the cars..

When they firs tcame out you couldn't get one for love nor money - now it semms there everywhere.

I think thats because Audi did the opposite of Nissan and had tiny volume for the first few months/year, then upped production.
Nissan have upped initial numbers but will (supposedly) have reduced numbers in the coming 2-3 years. Told by my dealer that Nissan are committed to a 6yr plan with this car including numbers, residuals, servicing etc

Was going to be 400, then 700 and now nearer 1000 (to my knowledge). This is the number for the first year.

Another deposit cancelled!

Sorry guys, Ive just cancelled my deposit.

I was one of the first on my dealers list but got a July date from Nissan!

Looking at the polls for delivery dates only about 100 people on this forum are waiting for a car in 2009, so if Nissan are bringing in 1000+ cars in the first year where are the other 900+ cars going?

Dealers and autotrader me thinks!!

In April 2009 I will have a briefcase with £60k in cash, Im sure there will be lots of dealers and pre-order customers who will want to talk :-)

Has anyone else cancelled in the hope of buying an earlier UK car?

Andy

i'm not really prepared to cancel unless the residuals are not as good as i expect or if i get more info on the spec-v such as pricing and timing, what if you can't buy one for that price, i was under the impression that the cars would be above the brand new price if buying privately especially if new

The first cars are in April, surely July isn't that long to wait!?
60K in cash is nowhere near enough to part with my preorder car!!!!

me neither, to wait and then to sell it at 60k...hmmm

i would have thought some people would want this car quite badly, many of the dealers i spoke to say that the dates will come forward (likely) so if you are in Q1 2010 then you could be picking it up at the end of 2009, not sure how true that is

Just checked the Middlehurst website and it states

'You will be pleased to hear Nissan has suspended the cancellation date for refunds on GTR orders.

As yet a new date has not been issued, however we will keep everyone informed.

Please feel free to contact one of the GTR Team if you have any queries - we are here to help'

Does anyone else know anymore???

After a long talk with Middlehursts - it would seem that if you are not able to see or drive the car - it is un-reasonable to not give you the opprotunity to cancel if you want or need to..

However when you have driven and seen the car, or had the opportunity to see and drive the car, they have a right to keep the deposit...

Which seems fair to me..
