A friend's R32 has over 700whp (in 2wd) with one on his RB30 with 1.8 bar and Av gas so 800bhp+ is def possible in some cases.
There's alot more to making the power than just the turbo. Rob

There's alot more to getting 700hp + from a motor than just bolting on a TO4z so there may be other differences also. Rob

It might be because they are closer to the equator ,which effectively means they are steeper , I guess \ |

If you're using an RB30 you'll definately want the 1.0 housing I would have thought. I had the 0.96 housing on an RB28 and it was too small resulting in compressor surge problems. That's fine for an RB26, but on a larger capacity I would go the next size up.
I would be surprised if you saw more than 650bhp with the 0.96 housing, at sensible EGT's anyway, and with the larger housing you'd probably see 680-700 maybe. What are you revving upto? Cheers Nito ps. Mine gave 580 at the hubs with a T04Z (0.96) on an RB28, pump gas, 1.6 boost iirc, 507lbs/ft on a dynapack. It's less than I wanted and wouldn't give anymore. It also had compressor surge issues when it was retuned for higher power. Basically the cams were being overwhelmed with boost before they'd fully opened (only in 6th gear). V-cam would have helped this I'm sure, but ultimately, I'd have gone for the larger housing which would have run cooler EGT's. And I was considering a T51 Kai BB ![]()

Looking for the power mainly in the mid-range rather than the top end. Going for the bigger housing 1.0 will mean compensating for less power in the midrange to have more power at the top-end. Going keep the revs below 8250rpm??
P.S. The T51 Kai BB is the next step. |

How early do you want your power! Here's mine RB28, T04Z, 1.7bar and 272 10.2mm cams in/ex 1.2mm gasket.
(.81 Housing I believe, not 0.96, didn't know a .96 was available. Sorry!) ![]() Cheers Nito
