Pads and discs I'd assumed a round of Pads, followed by front discs and pads only, followed by either rear disks and pads only, or discs and pads all round !

Free annual maintenance checks? Hmmmm. Sounds like an excuse to get your car in and then tell you it needs lots of expensive work doing to it!!! Porsche 911 looking more and more appealing. 2 babies to squeeze in now though (well in 3 weeks anyway), M3 maybe.

You can have the car serviced from every workshop that works after the manufacturers manuals and is able to do it......you dont need to get it serviced by the HPC......its your right as a european

Everbody can service a GTR if he has a tester where he can get into the cars ecu......and in most things they have to give access in european cars,even for "TÜV" in germany they need to make the car connect to the normal "TÜV" test machines.........if they dont,they dont get their next "Tüv" in 3 years....

Im interested when my euro GTR arrives this month(counting the days,just 20 to go),to see what we really get....

PS: A GTR must be a unbelievable car to be better then my Evo X MR SST(i know the GTR is faster,but its not just about being fast,its about how your fast and what price you pay for it.....the Evo is awesome,really,guys...

PS2: The Evo gearbox is just 8500€ when it breaks and Mitsubishi doesn´t log your driving data......if it breaks,they give you a new one,without pre and after inspections......

The way I read it was adding the 2 x costs for the 6k & 12k svcs together comes to a total £683.00

So the car needs a service at 6,000 miles, then 12,000 miles at a cost of £341.50 per service?

What are they changing after just 18thousend miles that it needs to cost 815gbp??

A modern car should not need anything else then motor oilchanges till the first 50000miles....if it needs more(appart from weardown parts like brakepads/tyres etc) then something is wrong......

Exactly that and the brakes that are costing the big money
Am i right in saying the brakes are not coverered under warranty
meaning you could source pads/discs yourself and still be covered
Read it somewhere else though
sell the car cheap recoup the money on servicing looks to be the case

And based on an annual 12000 miles or 2 services per year then first 5 years for road servicing is:

Excl. VAT Incl. VAT
Year 1 £682.72 £796.61

Strange got nice neat columns in my post, but comes up staggered. Anyhow that's about an average of £1540 a year. I've assumed 15% VAT for the first 6 months and then back to the usual 17.5%.

Wonder what happens 60 000 to 96 000 miles as per the service book? I can see a few sales happening after year 4 to dodge the £2500 services!

Now all we need is circuit driving inspection and extra servicing costs confirmed.

I'm trusting the 1800 mile service schedule for "hard use of throttle" info in the USDM won't be carried over to road use? LOL.

EvoVI is right about a finding a good independent as a sanity check! Litchfields looks promising.

How can it be £821exc for front pads kit
and front discs are £661exc
i have never seen pads more expensive than discs before
can this be right?
are they spec v pads?

Brakes are consumables. If the discs cracked or warped inside a reasonable mileage a HPC and Nissan might consider those faults a genuine defect and replace under warranty.

AP Racing seems the way to go until Nissan let the HPCs compete with competively priced OEM kit.

Don't agree the GT-R is cheap at all. It is £60 000 as a Black Ed. Put in the dealer options and it's more like £64K. This is M5 money. The M5 is a 507bhp (normally aspirated) 200mph car when delimited from 155.Its service schedule is a world apart and it runs it's 5.0L V10 S85 engine to 8250rpm!

I made the mistake of estimating GT-R costs to similiarly priced cars like the M3/M5, Porsche 911 and Audi RS4. Doh! GOot that wrong. I thought that was reasonable approach in the absence of any Nissan info. I'd even hoped Nissan would undercut them! Double doh!!

Whatever Nissan marketing say, I find it hard to beleive the VR38DETT is not actually closely related to VQ37VHR. They have the same bore and stroke. Love to hear the full story from the engine development engineers. Bunging turbos on an existing V6 block makes a lot of sense in terms of minimising development costs. Just a thought.

Certainly it'd be interesting to strip them down and compare them. Or even to put the GT-Rs twin turbos and map on a VQ37!
