Mine's R35 GT-R - in person

This past weekend was GT-R Magazine's annual all-Japan "R's Meeting" at Fuji Speedway. Lots of tuning shops were on hand to show off their cars, and have some mini-time attacks.

gtrlux and I were hanging out in the pits with Mine's and MCR, and I was graciously offered a ride in the Mine's R35 GT-R by Niikura-san, the President of Mine's. I got to go out on Fuji Speedway for 2 laps, driven by Katsura-san, professional racer and Mine's test driver.

He ripped it right out of the pits, leaving me whimpering like a hurt dog. The first lap he went full out, drifting slightly around the turns. Fujimura Auto's BNR34 got in our way for a second, but we flew past him after some space was given to us. At the end of the front straight we hit at 280km/hr before braking. The second lap was a cool-down lap, and a nice chance to see the circuit at a regular pace.

The Mine's R35 puts out around 600hp, but what is really impressive about it is the brutal response, absolutely incredible. Mine's is not known for the high-horsepower cars, but rather their high response cars, and this one proves their philosophy to be absolutely correct, a snarling, beast of a machine that is set off by the slightest touch of the pedal.

I'd like to thank Mine's, Niikura-san, Katsura-san, and all the Mine's mechanics and staff for allowing us to hang out in the pits, get close to the cars, and most of all, for the chance-of-a-lifetime to ride in their car around Fuji Speedway.
I can't say enough nice things about them, they are a solid bunch of guys who have a deep passion for racing, but also are very down-to-earth and great guys to be around.

Thanks for making it an awesome day Mine's!!

I'd hazard a guess because the rubber that was on the first set of wheels has been buttered all over the track.

The wheels in the early pics had street tires on them, the ones in the later pics are after they swapped to the track tires.

Haha . . . was pretty amazing.

We went there like everyone else (visitors) and they thought we were like somekind of foreign press representatives . .lol

I am currently editing the videos we shot at the event.

Will post them here.
