can someone clarify the warranty position?

Just a quick check here as I am late to the GTR party.

I have read in the sticky threads that initially warranties were not honoured if they were for claims resulting from ESP/VDC being in the off position.

I also saw the limitation from transmission oil temperature.

This thread tells me the tmperature has been raised and that the warranty remains in tact if ESP/VDC is used in the off position.

Does that mean that launches are now included in warranty cover as I see no specific mention of the use of launch control.

I could be blind, so if I have missed this please accept my apologies, I'd just like black and white confirmation.

My understanding is that you are able to drive the car with VDC off, however if while driving with the VDC off you break something then this will not be covered under the warranty if it could be proved that what ever you were doing would not have broke the car should VDC have been in R mode.

I didn't get that impression at all.

Have I completely missed the history on this one?

Was it that any historical use of VDC off would void the warranty for any future claims, but now they changed it to what you've said above?

Because the way I've read it in the thread is that the warranty is as it would be regardless of VDC switch position. ie. the caveat you state doesn't apply.

I fail to see how a vendor can supply a product with an option that should you ever need to use it, i.e. to get a stuck car out of the mud, then your warranty is void for the rest of the cars life.....

Apply common sense, the law is on your side

Personally, I would get written clarification from your HPC to ensure that when you need to claim, you have the evidence to back up your blame

As long as you are not ABUSING the car, the warranty is fine.

An example would be doing donuts, multiple launches, bouncing off limiter numerous times in 1 drive etc

So long as you apply common sense, you are fine and yes you can launch using the LC2 software pre-programmed - just not 100 times in 1 session!!

Your right to pursue and if you were in a pub quiz team and guessed the answer that could either win or lose the prize....you would want to be pretty sure of the answer wouldn't you, the same applies with £70k of metal....I think there is too much ambiguity surrounding this area and I for one will also be interested to see how this thread clarifies the position so the GTROC will support should there be a dispute with Nissan HQ

I'm a "lawyer" (kind of) so it's in my nature to want to know the wording.

I'm actually a worse kind of legal professional for whom 99% of my job relates to ambiguous wording.

The stated position is as per post 2 - the interpretation has not been subject to dispute as all claims have been accepted, of which there have only been a few.

I would suggest that those that are playing with LC settings may be on a sticky wicket should a failure occur but that is a different subject matter.

Likewise...I am soon to be going to Westovers and I will ask their position on this matter and more importantly what factors will VOID the warranty.

I have had this back from Darren @ Westover and hopefully it will help to answer some of the aspects being discussed;

Anil,

As long as you keep looking after her and services and oil changes are done , Then there is no problem. There is always revisions done to the boxes and most of the time we never hear of them. Most of the box failures are tuned up with much higher boost and lots more torque. The VDC off is fine and the launch control is there to be used and VDC off is fine when using launch control. If any think ever happened with you car, I am always here to help anyway.

I once carried out a launch is VDC off in damp conditions, Never again. The car went sideways and tried to the verge . With it on the car can have much more control over its decisions and does not seem to be so harsh for the driveline.

But either way its designed for it so do not worry!
