Help the new person

Hi Everyone!

Looks like i've just bought myself an R32 GTR fo a bit of fun in, however before delivery I have the power bug and will be looking to tune it

I want reliable power without having to go bottom end internal though - I would hazard a guess looking at other cars out there that maybe 500bhp ish?

looking at the naure of the engine - they dont seem to b very torqey due to the revvy nature?

So question is, what do I need to do?

I had a list which I assumed would be ok:

*turbo's? will go the Garrett GT series route as I refuse point blank to be ripped off for turbo kits.
*injectors? 600cc?
*gasket set?
*Cams? something like a 260 profile? 8.9 lift?
*fuel pumps & fpr's?
* the pipework for the i/c looks pants - some sort of hard pipe kit?
*oil cooler looks a bit weedy?
*Exhaust? Hypers seem popular on the skylines?
*Induction - couple of nice & big K & N's enough?

Ok other bits the all important ECU on these - HKS F-con/Apexi Power FC maybe?

I really dont like these piggy back ECU's - has anyone ever stuck a Pectel in one of these before? - could be interesting!

Some sort of boost controller I assume? maybe something like an EVC?

bizzarely I have sat at home an HKS F-CON V & EVC 4 which came off my Evo - is the actual ECU bit the same on these with a different loom for each model or is it dependent per car?

Just thinking out loud as obviously if I can use that it might save me some bucks! no funny comments about it only being able to run 4 of the cylinders though

Just a heads up - Check the thread history within the Tuning, Turbos, and Electronics sections of this forum. There are plenty of answers and opinions that have been presented on the exact questions you are asking. You'll no doubt find it all valuable.

You should be able to 500-550hp to the engine reliably on the stock RB26 bottom end - assuming your engine is in good condition to start with and you do all the supporting mods.

Cya O!
