Can't wait for the rain to stop!

Hello all.
Picked up my first GT-R on Friday afternoon and its better than i could have hoped for.
Standard black edition car MY2011 in black.
Been lucky in years gone by and had some nice motors subtle mods with big hp and have thrashed them on track days and at the ring but this car really is special its better than another road car i have had before.
Can't believe how much value for performance it is both speed and handling combined.
Iv got loads of questions, have been trolling the site for what upgrades to go for first exhausts etc, but won't bore you by asking all at once.
Everyone out there seem to love these cars and i can see why now and its only going to get better!

Welcome. Go for a Y pipe and stage 1 map but leave it for a couple of months or else u might not feel the full benefit so get used to standard then move on. Amazing car. Iv had mine 3 years come May and i still love it.

Good luck

Its still raining!
Has anyone out there fitted the Dunlop WinterSport Tyres M3?
Are they run flats and what do you think about the grip levels wet and dry?
The rear Bridgestones on the car are 40% so would remove the set and refit again in the spring.Do you know if the Wintersports are RF?
I am a bit sad on tyres having scrubbed out many sets and my first choice at the moment would be Pilot Sports for all weather and the Sport Cups for dry grip i think these are as good as they get for road legal grip and can cope with a damp track as well but no fitment yet for the GT-R and not RF either.
Are the factory Dunlops better in the wet than the Bridgeys?
Please give your views
cheers

Congrats on the car. I got the dunlop all season run flat tires which are a lot better in the wet and a bit better in the snow. But believe they are not available in Europe. I got them from tirerack together with Enkei rims. 4000 USD vs dealers offer 10k for OEM rims + blizzak winter tires (as if they ever had those tires on stock!).

As for the rain, cheer up, 6 month tops and you are good to go.

Hi Tomgtr
looked on tirerack web site those all season Dunlops are out of stock due back in May!
I have emailed them to see when they might be back in stock look like a good alternative to the usual Bridgestones for this time of year. Be a shame to leave such an awesome car parked up for too long

Mind you, I'm Dutch, we are worse than the Scottish. Had them shipper per chemical tanker to Antwerp and let's say that I didn't manage to find the customs desk at that terminal. So the 4000 USD was for me the door to door price. Not everybody will be that lucky. I ordered them in Summer 2010 and thinking that after such a old winter surely we shouldn't have another one. Unfortunately last winter was very cold again so sort of regretted I didn't order the Blizzaks. However so far so good this winter and happy with the all season tires now. Strange they don't have them in stock now. Nissan put these tires in some states as standard tire if you bought the car with winter packet. They were never sold in Europe. Getting the blizzaks in Europe ws virtually impossible last 2 winters. Sure tirerack will answer soon, their customer service was pretty good.

Why don't you just go for the full winter Blizzaks? They are great this time of year - grip well in the cold/wet, shift masses of water on streaming roads and are in a different league on snow. The only you will notice is that, when it's dry they struggle to put full power down, but with soft, deep, small treadblocks you can't expect miracles. I got mine for tirerack last winter, mounted on a set of Enkei GTC01s. Prices were as below (the wheels were on offer at the time):

FED EXPRESS (1-3 DAYS) - $ 856.48 SHIPPING METHOD FIP
FED ECONOMY (3-5 DAYS) - $ 457.31 SHIPPING METHOD FIE

The products:

2 255/40R20 BS BLIZZAK LM25 RFT 367.00
2 285/35R20 BS BLIZZAK LM25 RFT 393.00

2 20X9.5 5-114 ET38 ENKEI GTC01 528.00
2 20X9.5 5-114 ET38 ENKEI GTC01 528.00
4 SCHRDR 315MHZ SENSOR 5.5 NM 47.00

Total product 3820.00

I think that after VAT/duty the total was around £2,300 shipped to my door. I deleted the TPMS as the US version are a different frequency to UK ones and they couldn't source UK ones at the time (worth checking whether that's still the case though). Problem is if you want to fit UK TPMS here, you'd want the wheels and tryes shipped unmounted so it costs and extra $500 shipping fee.

Obviously you pay a bit more than just swapping tyres over when the seasons change, but it's a lot less hassle swapping rims over with the tyres mounted and better for the runflats in the long run.

I shipped them for that reason not fitted. The TPMCs cost a fortune though.

Its stopped raining and the car is in Nissan garage not mine.

Bought the car from a Jag garage in Bristol last week with part of the deal being they were picking it up from me this week leaving me a Diesel XF! and taking it to Nissan Bristol for the service that was due and returning it today.
Nissan rang me this morning to say there was a Bell Housing transmission rattle that needs sorting. I hadn't noticed anythiny myself but have only driven the car twice in the rain! I was told that the car had already had an uprated part fitted that was now faulty again and needed the latest uprated part to solve the problem and were waiting from Nissan for the go ahead to repair the problem
Has anyone had the same issue with their cars?
Been desperate to get home from work today to get out in the car in the dry and its on the ramp at Nissan.
Couldn't go out cruising in the Jag as i think its fitted with one of those age detection immobilisers and wouldn't start as I'm under 60 years of age!
