Dealer Scare tactic or reason for concern?

Just called up to book my car in for its first service and a post track day inspection.

Was talking about the mods I had done and planned to do on the car they then told me that they have had a car in that had warranty denied for a blown engine, at a cost of 46k, because it had an after market exhaust fitted.

Was also told that Bromley had a warranty denied for a car that blew an engine on track! Then I was told that Warranty on the car is suspended when you take it on track and is only reinstated after the post track inspection!

The way they were talking, especially about a reflashed ecu, the car should never be moddifed at all or taken anywhere near a track if you wish to have any chance of getting a warranty approved!

Im quite sure this isn't the case but some people might have believed them!

£46k is the price NMGB will state for a new engine though after pressure from HPC's you are looking at more £25k.

The stories you have said are true...I have posted about these before but got shot down...I was told by one guy on here that as I once drove Porsche's I was scaremongering!

If mine blows on track, I'll forge the engine and have even more fun

I don't like Porsche's anymore...of course would prefer that no car's had blown up and had warranty denials, but at least you have heard from dealer about these cars...there is one more to add to that list at least that I have discussed on here before.

Thankfully we have great people like SVM to change engines etc if something does go wrong and Nissan do nothing.

911's go wrong too on track and get warranty issues...there was a case last year that I heard about.

Yes, but they are full of carp.
Nissan build the worlds (arguably) best value for money supercar with a rich herritage of modifications, then according to some dealers you can't modify, track or drive it too fast or they'll try and bankrupt you when/if it goes wrong.

Sorry, but it's all BS.
If this is how Nissan really are and how much faith they really have in the car then I bought the wrong vehicle.

This is why I'll probably always use a GT-R specialist rather than the jokers at the dealers.
Delaers just want to screw you for any penny they can get.
As I posted last week, I got a quote for 4 tyres at £3,200 which after 24 hours and me saying I'll go to kwik fit for Bridgestones came down to £2000.

I wish Nissan dealers were as good as my other dealers (Skoda) because quite simply they are not even in the same league!

in the end of the day a dealer will not want you to tune the car as you will go to a "independant" for the mods, then you will get sucked into perhaps using the"independant" for servicing so scaring you to keep you going to the dealer instead

I'm sure Nissan has refused some repairs and based it on a tuned car, that said its a car and there are other ways to repair and maintain it. Lots on here don't use dealers...

so take it with a pinch of salt what the dealer says and perhaps not telling him what you are doing with your car might be a better approach.
