Thumbs up Hello and Thanks!

Hi all,

I have been lurking around these forums over the last few months teasing myself over the pipe dream of one day owning my very own R35. I fell in love with the car the first time I saw one and had to find out more.

Almost every question I have had has been covered in here - comprehensively- by what seems to be a friendly group of die-hard enthusiasts so i guess I should start with a big "Thank-You!" to you all.

I convinced myself that it would never happen until a few weeks back I received an email from my wife. Little did I know that she had been covertly checking out R35s in the colour/spec I wanted (as I never shut up about it) and had arranged a test drive!

I went, I tested. And only went and bought the thing! 2 days before my birthday

MY09 Black Edition in Grey. Currently in the hands of my local Nissan HPC having full service and a couple of little niggles fixed under warranty. Can't wait for the warmer weather so I can stretch her legs properly but the small number of miles I have covered so far have been unbelievable. Still seems surreal to own this amazing bit of kit.

I have loads of new questions now that I own the motor, Gearbox Upgrades, Detailing (I understand Magic is the man to ask!), Trackers etc. etc. but will search for/post these in the appropriate sections of the forum.

Just wanted to say hi first, I'm sure I'll be chatting to many of you soon. I also fully intend on joining up with the GTROC and look forward to getting the chance to meet some of you at an appropriate event in the very near future.

Cheers for convincing me to go for it

Craig.

Thanks all, nice to meet you!

Get the car back tomorrow, HPC have switched out both headlight units under warranty as the specialist noticed a little condensation in both (nice one fella!). Only reason I went down the HPC route was to get some warranty work done, the audio system died the day after I bought her - typical! Everything else in the car works apart from the stereo and bluetooth, very strange. A replacement audio unit is on its way from Japan. Also discussed the possibility of an extended warranty, estimated to be around £1k per year.

Reckon I may be joining the Litchfield posse for subsequent services, looking at their new facilities! Very nice work mate! And that Stage 1 kit is very tempting after all the feedback from happy customers! Only drawback is the round trip to get there.

Interestingly, my dealer told me that MY11 gearbox software is NOT available for MY09 cars (is the Litchfield gearbox mod unofficial? Perhaps he just said that to maintain warranty status?).

Sure I'll have more to ask tomorrow after getting her back and I have a day off to play. Carefully. Forecast says 1'C......

Congrats, as far as I've read on here, the gearbox software can be retrofitted to MY09's without any drawbacks.. you'll need to get the circaclip upgrade though for piece of mind imo.

Errrrrrr, why the circlip. Thats for 650+ bhp cars I thought. No reason for a standard or stage 1-4 car to have surely unless you are a launchaholic

Gearbox software is only a non-nissan garage upgrade

No need for a circlip upgrade unless 650bhp or more, or you are going to be launching it at Santa Pod every weekend.
Same money buys a Stage 1, gearbox software update and leaves plenty of change for a service or two.

Hi mate and congrats on the motor!

With regards the Tracker, my HPC quoted best part of £1200 for their Cobra solution for installation and 1year subscription!!

Personally looking at the Tracker Locate around £800-850 installed with 3 years sub. Tracker seem to be the only company that use VHF alongside traditional GPS/GSM. Advantage is that it can still be found if parked indoors etc. and all Police forces use it. Seems like a no-brainer to me

I'd post a link but I'm too new.....

Same to yourself fella, just got her back yesterday after G3 service and special maintenance. The detail that my HPC went into was insane, they really do take care of the car and me as a customer, was very impressed as it was my initial contact with Nissan after having bought the car privately. It's just the price that is hard to swallow. That said, the specialist was amazing and sorted out everything I asked of him, even printing and fitting some new plates, giving me a tour of their workshop and introducing me to the GT-R technician. Also had a peek at a MY11 in blue in the showroom and a freshly delivered MY12 with delivery stickers and wheels still wrapped etc in the parking lot! Tempted? Not yet!

Used her to commute today and it was an absolute joy throughout, gearbox is smoother, everything feels "new" despite the car feeling awesome to begin with.

Can't wait for Spring......
