Thanks to Litchfields - and I got one!

Despite being a member here for years and even done a few track days with some of the old timers back when I had my CSL and 360CS, I've never owned a GTR of any kind.

Well, today I bought the MY11 Gun Metal Grey Recaro Edition that Iain Litchfield had for sale, complete with the stage 1 to get me going.

First impressions? Absolutely incredible!

I've known Iain for a few years, and bought a fair bit of Mugen stuff for my Honda a year or so ago, but this transaction was even smoother. It is the first time I've visited Litchfields in person, and couldn't believe how many GTRs were there, or the level of work being undertaken. Impressive stuff.

I now have to get acquainted with the beast before decided what I would like to be different. Right now, it is amazing and I'm trying to take it all in!

I wont be known to you, but know of you...i got into evo's with a TME which was tuned by Nick Roundtree of NR autosport, he worked closely with Stuart Smith (Alice racing) remember him.?

You and he were often having a banter on the MLR and at the time it was all new stuff. steps into the unknown with tuning etc and was great to see you and stu pushing the boundary's etc.

Anyway where have you been and how come its taken you so long to get into the next big thing GTR's..?>>>????

Yes, remember Nick well. Lovely guy. Still hear from Stuart on PureGt.

After the Evo stuff, I went all BMW. Had a CSL which evolved into an M3 GTR race car that I campaigned in Britcar for a few years. He'd all sorts since, notably a 360 Challenge Stradale and more recently a 640bhp Supercharged E92 M3 and a rather snazzy Mugen Type R.

I really wanted an R34 but was a bit late and when the R35 appeared I was mid ownership of the E92. Sold that in October and have just been scratching my head what to get. Bought this over the phone from Iain and it's been a bit of a happy result for a knee jerk action on my part!

Congrats Blade, I was looking at the very same car before I bought mine and it looked like a mint example.

You'll get top service from Iain, he's a top bloke.

Happy motoring

Marc

Ahhh, i thought it was you from the uppercase signatures on your posts but the H threw me!!

My impressions are hard to articulate so far as I'm a bit blown away!! Only negatives are that Nissan could have done a bit more inside the car, but not much, and the seats are not low enough for me to wear a helmet. I'll see how I get on but I am thinking recaro cs at this point!

Thanks to all for making me feel welcome

Tony, speak to Iain about some funky seats that might help you. I think he may have something you'll like.

Tony,
I think your term, blown away, sums it up really. I waited far too long to join the fold. I was very sceptical at first, in 2008, reading all the first reports, like, better than a 911 turbo ?, i just couldnt believe that. Then, i listened to all the doom mongery [is that a proper phrase ?] , about transmission troubles, so that was an excuse, not to buy. But, last year i jumped in, and, like you say, blown away, is the correct term. Why did i wait so long ?. And mine is the 2010 standard, at the moment, model. Would love to hear, your comparison, against your SCd M3. Regards, SIMON.
