AEM experts? R32 wont start

Hi

Been having issues getting my aem to work. No help on aem forum and response from aem us is next to useless as it takes forever.

I bought a used but working aem 1623u from here. I started off with the stock nissan cas which they are meant to work with but are troublesome. I then got the specific aem disc and another cas to put it in. Following all the aem instructions i still cannot get the damn thing to start.

For people that know the system i get stat sync while cranking which stays on and the engine speed reads for a few seconds then drops to 0 while still cranking. stat sync stays on. I checked for spark but nothing but i will check again this weekend.

It starts and runs perfect on the stock ecu, all wiring been checked and both cas's worked on stock ecu.

If anybodys got any suggestions?? Its doing my f***in nut in.

Doing this from memory, but

1623 is for R34.

1621 is for R32/R33

The CAS are different. The 1 and 120 signals are swapped. You need to rewire the CAS to make it work.

Unless its rewired, it is not going to start.

Look at pins 41,42 and 51,52 on each chart above.

I've put AEM's on a ton of cars, but its been a couple years since I messed with them much. Normally when they won't start, they have something not checked in the setup.

Do you have Pin 8 hooked up to power? Its blank on an R33/R32 and has IGN on an R34.

Ah I dont think I had noticed that, I do remember there was a link wire inside the ecu but I will check if I have any wire or voltage at pin8 on my harness.

Do you have a nissan cas wheel or the aem one? Do you have timing sync in the software while cranking? Series 1 or 2 aem?

I have both cas, AEM and stock, I have tried both, had more luck with the stock. However I was told by AEM that the stock cas will not work with series 2. I'm not sure about timing sync.

I got some directions from AEM how to best sync the timing. It seems I just need to work at it more. I was curious if you fixed your problems and what you might have done.
