First Post

Hello all. I wanted to make a first post after joining a few weeks ago in the run up to buying my first GTR. Thanks to all of you who make this site so helpful and informative. It really helped me in making my selection as to which car I would buy and I really appreciated the advice on what to look out for when I did.

I am now the proud owner of a silver MY09 2 1/2 year old version. It is a stock version (at least for now) and I am yet to stop smiling since picking it up.

I am looking forward to plenty of fun years with the beast and benefiting from the forum and hopefully sometimes contributing too.

Now with pics (I reached 15 posts :))

Thanks for the welcomes.

I did try to add some pics, but it said I need to have 15+ posts, so I will have to keep replying or starting new ones.

Actually I don't think my registration / membership has been activated yet as I can't update my profile either. Hopefully won't be long.

Congrats

I've recently brought the same 59 plate GTR and only a weekend car but woooowww it's fun ! I too am looking to mod it but I'm thinking lit fields stage 1 ? What you got in mind ??

Useyourwings 21st March 2012 09:26 PM

Yep Litchfield stage 1 - that is what I am thinking. There are a number of other firmware / software updates recommended on here too for the transmission and the like, to take the MY09 closer to the current machine which sounds great. I expect software updates on a laptop, but not a 470bhp motor. Brilliant.

Welcome mate

I too have only had mine for a month and still haven't stopped smiling. I get soooo excited at just the thought of opening the garage on a friday and bringing it out for the weekend.

I will also be modding soon. Looking at grabbing a Japspeed Cat back exhaust and then visiting Litchfield for a re map and trans flash. can't wait

Enjoy mate

Thanks.

That is some list of cars in your history. I would love to know how you think the GTR compares.

I have taken one friend out, who currently has a GT3, and although he was already thinking about it, when he got out he said "you do know I will have to get one of these now".

imm looking at the moment , sooooo close to getting one, middlehurst have a car that i think i will buy, just need to get the numbers to add up :) then its bye bye RS4 and hellllllo GTR

Useyourwings 21st March 2012 09:59 PM

dominic1 - I had a look a the ones at Middlehurst, specifically the DMG one. Steve took me out for a proper test drive in the red one which sealed the decision of going for a GTR. Both those MY10 had my eye, but I decided to get one a little older and save the money for the mods (or at least the running costs). Mine had 12k miles only when I picked it up and I saved ad decent wodge too.

dominic1 21st March 2012 10:40 PM

yep don't know witch way to go, they have 2 10 plate cars, really like the red one reg number is NL10BXB if any one knows it any info would be welcome :), dont know if its worth the extra over a 09 one they have .

ill sleep on it and see how i feel in the morning :)

Useyourwings 21st March 2012 10:56 PM

Do what I did and go half way between. Mine is a 59 plate with just over 7 months warranty left. It took a bit more looking and it doesn't have sat nav or iPod connection but the price difference was more than big enough to remedy those an then some.

I used to have an RS4. The GTR is so different. Its all positive towards the GTR apart from the poor ride and constant creaking rattling dash/trim. Been out tonight for a blast and cos its been sat in the cold it was making all sorts of noises. Still love it though and you learn to live with all that. Nearly 3 years for me. So dam expensive to run though.

Good luck

Dave
