Question Headlight replaced under warranty

Hi guys my car is booked in tomorrow for both headlights to be replaced under warranty due to them steaming up, anyway what id like to know has anyone had theres done and if so did they replace the complete headlight including new xenon bulb and ballist, because i was told that they are around £1250+vat each just to buy so i take it that would surely include the xenon bulb and ballist. The service girl told me its a complete unit so i hope it includes the bulbs and ballists

Hi guys had the headlights done today and the car looks even minter then it did before, they did a great job thanks guys at Colliers Birmingham, they replaced both complete lights including all new bulbs and xenon packs/ballists so it's worth getting them done because the parts alone were over £2800inc vat

It is a known fault and normally only effects the O/S light because of what is beneath it - have a look!

Had mine replaced twice and booked in for a 3rd one soon.

What's beneath it then? And also does anyone know that should Nissan give a 12 month guarantee on the new parts which were replaced under warranty, because my Nissan warranty runs out in three weeks

Had mine done yesterday. Its the oil cooler that resides under the unit and the temp fluctuations caused by the cooler doing its job cause the problem.

That's just crazy! So they only replaced one side each time for you? But that's still nearly £4k not inc labour!

Touch wood, mine are still fine at 24k miles despite a fair few track outings, ditto my bell housing.

Just had mine done today by Motorline Nissan in Tunbridge Wells. They did a very good job, just over 4 hours (on a public holiday) so that helped a lot!

Also asked them to have a look at the drivers side wiper as the blade "stutters" at low speeds (no issue at motorway speeds) but got told £305 (£205 for wiper arm and £100 to fit) as "I must have bent the arm".... little disappointed by that, but still the service for changing the headlamp was very good!

Nearly an hour to fit a wiper blade? Ouch

I am also aware that this is a well known problem, although it obviously slipped from the salesman's memory as I was handing over £75000 last autumn.

Shame that a car that has had such an amount of R & D as we are encouraged to believe has such a fault.

Also surprised that the warranty replacement doesn't seem to involve some kind of modification such as heatshielding to prevent a recurrence of the problem.

My GTR had a misted up offside (right) headlamp within a couple of months from new, albeit with about 10,000 miles covered.

I have been waiting since Jan 2012 for the dealer to get back to me, to inform me that the warranty replacement has been approved.

Shortly after the NHPC took photos for warranty approval, the nearside unit started to mist up, so more photos as they said they would replace both units at the same time.

Since that time the nearside unit seems to have cleared itself, but the offside is still in need of replacement.

Nissan are 100% aware of the problem they all had a news bulletin about them so don't let them blag you in any way and tell them about the other headlight also steaming up, that will save the front end being stripped down twice. Hope you get it sorted bud

Thanks for the advice, it was my belief that it would make sense to have both fitted at the same time to minimise duplicated effort with the stripdown.

To be fair to my NHPC they were of the opinion that this would be approved.

Just seems that they are better at selling and servicing cars than remembering to chase warranty claims and keep their customers updated !

Had both of mine replaced last week on the last day of warranty. Bit of a fight with pics and vids of it but they did it in the end. Looks spanking new again. £3k job. Happy Chappy. The sales guy said mine was the most imaculate 09 he's ever seen.

The GTR team in Birmingham are good, they seen our car and replaced them straight away like my dad said, we was sooooo happy we was still in warrantee. And the car looks like a 12 plate now!
