Hi All,

As you guys know from my prior post, I'm leaving Asia to return home. I had to make one final stop to Nismo HQ in Tokyo. I had a blast because (1) purchased some new parts for my R34 / R33 GT-R and (2) spoke to a 15yr veteran technician for 3hrs who is now in sales/marketing dept. His name was Nagatsuru-san and I invited him to my home in US in exchange for him to build my Nismo engine. He laughed and accepted my offer. Let's see if he shows up.

bhp - I asked Nagatsuru-san your question regarding Nismo Intake Collector and he said, no need to reprogram R1 ECU. R1/S1 ECU has air/fuel acceptable band and both OEM/Nismo Intake Collector are fine. To prove, I asked his assistance to write it on paper.

Is it wise though to show his business card with his full details?
We are on the internet after all, so one can assume that there are people that will call that number. I'd have a mod remove that picture.

Other than that - great pictures and purchases

Am I converting those engine prices correctly

Either quite reasonable, or unbelievably high?!

R2 engine is £35k with the F-Sport touching £50k some serious money to put one of these engines into a skyline.... then you need to factor in the other bits for e.g suspension, clutch, exhaust etc etc, its why not many cars had these packages installed as it was cheaper to go to other tuners.

i appreciate the time and effort you have put in to get this verified and confirmed. The Nismo description for this intake states that it needs an ECU retune, but that could mean for any car running the standard ECU and as you say on a S1/S2 or R1/R2 ECU it may already have the parameters on the ECU to accept the intake without the need for further adjustment.

I wrote a reply commenting on the prices of those engines the morning after the pictures were posted and then deleted it as I thought I was doing something wrong with the yen to pound conversion, I would be really interested to know the pricing structure behind the £50,000 plus engine, because no matter how I try, I can't come up with a justification for it other than greed.
Even if you allowed £25,000 for parts, most of which are made by Nissan them selves, so were not talking retail prices, then you take in to .....

I getting wound up just thinking about it, can you imagine how the mechanic must feel, when he realises what he's being billed out at, when in reality it probably costs Nissan less than the price of a gasket set to bolt one of these together.

Sorry for the rant, I know I'm full of shite, and need to keep my opinions to myself, but really, £50k for an engine, FFS.

It includes Nismo optional titanium exhaust so the car is pretty much set. I had a test drive and it's ridiculously FAST!!

Incredible commitment to the build. I saw the question but not sure if you answered it... How long until you can use the R34 in the states?

The US has a 25-year law, so 2024. There are a few exceptions, but only for a few special models.

Well with the effort that's gone in to getting the car to the state it's in, it's probably worth waiting 7 years. But it would seem like forever!

Where did you source the NISMO/Motul oil filler cap?
I have been trying to find one for years

Chou - Thanks for asking and checking in. I will tell you the truth and both cars are completely different. R34 R1 drives and sounds like a classic. It's fast but not as fast as Nismo R35. R35 is a rocket ship with state of the art electronics. I like ripping through the gears in the R34, feels like my soul is part of the drivetrain. Don't feel that in R35. If I had one car park, I'll pick R34 R1.
