Car Immobilised - Bl**dy Tracker

Car went for some work recently (JM-Imports) and battery disconnected.

Car would then not start, luckily Jurgen had come across this before.

Contacted Cobra
- did not know previous reg had to go back with vin no. - oh yes you have not subscribed (correct about 2 weeks earlier had started getting THE clicking) so we have archived.

- explained position, nothing to do with them (apparently) oh hang on I'll just speak to someone, oh yes we can do something remotely to enable the car to start.

- if I don't subscribe how the / why the .... did you immobilise my car, oh its nothing to do with us it's not even a cobra tracker you need to take it up with Nissan.

Luckily my car was at a local garage and I had access to internet so inconvenience minimal, however what if abroad or the like and did not know it was tracker related and have the number to hand.

I wanted to warn people of the potential problem but also is there a solution and who is responsible Nissan (some sort of fail safe if battery disconnected) or Cobra???

It's not "Tracker", it's "Cobra". (thread title, different company)

Cobra device fitted to most gtrs can remotely disable car.

It would be pretty useful if the thieves didnt know all about its location.

Yes, Richard meant Cobra tracker NOT Tracker.

My point is if I am not subscribing how come the car is disabled whether or not I disconnect the battery.

Who is responsible Nissan or Cobra as do not want this to happen again.

Its Cobra, Nissan have done a deal with them so they will get some sort of kick back for sales,
But i still didnt know the could immobilise your car,
Ive got them on quiet a few of my car and have never not been able to start them after battery has been removed
If it can, Why not stop the car starting if you havent got your card in your person.
Sorry for long story

It's used to let the perps get away, then disable the car when the police are handy and they slow down for a junction etc...

Mine imobilised my car recently when the batteries died in the tracker fob. Dont know why but a new battery in the fob and it started straight away and im not subscribed either!
Took it to HPC who contracted Cobra who did something at their end and said it wont happen again, even if the batteries die again.

The exact same happened to mine except I was stranded in tescos car park. Had to leave the missus to wait with the car and walked home to get the spare keys.
Got back and in started, called cobra and they said it won't happen again - so they defiantly know!

They must muck about with it so your tempted to call and ask about it then subscribe. How many of us have had this problem are not subscribed I wonder?
